Birdow’s school record leads Women’s Track & Field on final day of NCAA Outdoor Championships

Texas tied for 20th in team standing as seven Longhorns earn First Team All-American honors.
EUGENE, Ore. – Texas Women's Track & Field wrapped up competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Hayward Field, highlighted by a school-record performance and silver-medal finish from Amelliah Birdow in the 400-meter hurdles as the Longhorns.
Texas finished tied for 20th in the team standings with 13 points.
Birdow delivered a historic performance in the 400-meter hurdles, earning NCAA silver and breaking the Texas program record with a time of 53.60. She now holds seven of the 23 fastest performances for a Longhorn
Texas opened the evening scoring in the 4x100-meter relay, where Carleta Bernard, Holly Okuku, Abigail Wolfe and Naomi London combined to run a season-best 42.92 to place seventh overall to earn All-America First Team accolades.
In the heptathlon, Tabea Eitel produced one of the biggest climbs of the meet, moving from 14th place entering the final day to finish seventh overall with a career-best 5,948 points.
Eitel began the day with a personal-best leap of 6.38 meters (20-11.25) in the long jump, the third-best mark of the session. The performance added 969 points to her total and moved her into a tie for ninth on Texas' all-time performer list. She followed with another personal best in the javelin, throwing 41.92 meters (137-6) to score 704 points before closing the competition with an outdoor personal-best time of 2:20.20 in the 800 meters, adding 821 points to secure her top-eight finish.
In the field, Jeanne Le Goff earned First Team All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump. She recorded a wind-legal personal-best mark of 13.38 meters (43-10.75), moving to No. 4 on Texas' all-time performer list.
