AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Softball juniors Katie Stewart and Viviana Martinez were named to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-America teams. Stewart was tabbed to the first team while Martinez landed on the third team.
Stewart is a repeat academic all-America honoree after earning a spot on the 2025 CSC Academic All-America Second Team. Martinez is a first-time academic all-America selection. Stewart is the second Longhorn in program history and the first since Nikki Cockrell in 1998 to receive first-team academic All-America praise. Stewart and Cockrell are the only players in program history to garner multiple academic all-America honors. Texas' two academic All-America honorees this year match the program's best, which was set in 2000.
Stewart and Martinez were key pieces in Texas' back-to-back Women's College World Series Championships after the Horns took home the trophy again in 2026. Texas swept Texas Tech in two games in the WCWS Championship Series on June 3-4. It's the program's second overall national title. Texas has appeared in the WCWS Championship Series in four of the last five years. The Longhorns won the 2026 SEC Tournament title – the program's' first SEC Tournament crown and the fifth overall conference tournament championship.
Stewart is a Corporate Communication major and boasts a 3.54 cumulative GPA during her three years on the Forty Acres. Martinez holds a 3.91 cumulative GPA across four years as a Applied Movement Science major at Texas.
Stewart adds her CSC First-Team All-America selection to a long list of honors this season, including SEC Player of the Year, top-10 finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, First-Team All-American praise from D1Softball and Softball America, WCWS All-Tournament Team recognition and First-Team All-SEC selection. Stewart finished the season with a single-season program record 31 home runs after slashing .429/.989/.555 with 78 hits and a team-high 79 RBI. Stewart recorded a .977 fielding percentage and helped turn 15 double plays at first base.
Martinez slashed .379/.525/.438 with 67 hits, 47 RBI, three home runs and 31 runs scored. The Tolleson, Ariz., native posted the second-most doubles on the team with 15 and struck out just 11 times – the fewest of Texas' starting lineup. Martinez tallied a .962 fielding percentage at shortstop and helped turn eight double plays. Martinez was a First-Team All-SEC and NFCA First-Team All-Central Region honoree. She landed on the SEC All-Tournament Team and collected SEC Player of the Week on April 21.
