A TCU attack error gave the Longhorns a 29-28 lead before Cari Spears finished the set with a kill, 30-28.
The second set featured 15 ties and seven llead changes. Texas used back-to-back kills from Stafford to take a 17-14 lead, but TCU rallied to go ahead 19-18. The Longhorns answered with kills from Spears and Taylor Harvey before a Spears service ace put Texas ahead 23-22. Bunton followed with a kill for set point, and after TCU cut the deficit to one, a Ramsey Gary pancake dig allowed Binney to set Stafford for the set-clinching kill to give Texas a 2-0 lead.
Texas jumped to a 4-1 lead in the third set and extended the advantage to 9-5 before TCU rallied to take a 10-9 lead. The teams continued to trade points until Texas took control late. Anderson's kill put the Longhorns ahead 19-17, and Bunton followed with a quick attack and combined with Anderson for a block to make it 22-19. Bunton's 10th kill of the night gave Texas match point at 24-21. TCU responded with two consecutive kills to pull within one, but Stafford answered with her 12th kill to seal the 25-23 set and the sweep.
