Vince Alcazar begins his 12th season as athletic equipment manager and his 16th season overall on the equipment staff at The University of Texas. Alcazar is responsible for all aspects of designing, ordering, maintaining, storing and distributing equipment for Texas Baseball, as well as supervising a staff of student managers.
Alcazar was a student manager at Texas from 1992-1995, and again in 1998, the year he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communications from UT. He took over as Texas’ baseball equipment manager in the summer of 2008.
Prior to coming to Texas, Alcazar spent 1999-2007 as the assistant visiting clubhouse manager for the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he received a World Series ring in 2001. He also served as an assistant clubhouse manager for Team USA in the inaugural World Baseball Classic held in Phoenix in 2006.
Before his stint with Arizona, Alcazar worked as a clubhouse manager for the Florida Marlins’ High-A and Double-A teams as well as USA Baseball Collegiate and 18U teams in 1996 and 1997.
Alcazar is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association, the American Baseball Coaches Association and also served as an assistant clubhouse manager for the 2011 MLB All Star Game in Phoenix.
During his run at Texas, Alcazar has been a part of five College World Series teams (1993, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2018) and has been in the dugout for both games during which Cliff Gustafson and Augie Garrido became the all-time winningest coaches in NCAA history at the time.
