Played in all 12 games with 10 starts … moved into a starting role in the second game of the season against Rice … did not start in the final game against Baylor due to injury … completed 92-of-159 passes (57.9%) for 1,214 yards (No. 5 on the UT freshman passing list) and five TDs with five INTs … was the team’s second-leading rusher with 556 yards and three TDs on 139 carries (4.0 ypc) … the 556 rushing yards ranked 12th on the UT freshman single-season list (second among quarterbacks) and eighth on the overall single-season quarterback list … helped Texas lead the Big 12 and rank seventh in the nation with just six interceptions thrown … made his first career start against Rice and accounted for 211 yards of offense (120p/91r) with two passing TDs of 32 and 69 yards (sixth-longest pass by a freshman in UT history) … set the UT single-game total offense record with 527 yards (364p/163r), while scoring three rushing TDs and completing 20-of-31 passes versus Cal … became the second player in school history to throw for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in a game (Colt McCoy) … the 364 yards passing ranked 10th on the UT single-game list, and second by a freshman … the 163 yards rushing (24 carries/6.8 ypc) tied the UT freshman single-game mark by a quarterback (Vince Young), was seventh-best by any freshman, and eighth-best by any quarterback … the three rushing TDs tied the UT freshman single-game record (only QB in group of five) … against Oklahoma State, registered 167 total yards (119p/48r) … joined with D’Onta Foreman to become the 33rd duo in UT history to rush for 100-plus yards in the same game by compiling 115 yards on 21 carries (5.5 ypc), while completing 8-of-11 passing for 53 yards and one TD versus Oklahoma … accounted for 160 total yards (99p/61r) while completing 10-of-15 passes against Kansas State … passed for 201 yards and one TD, an 84-yard completion to John Burt that was the ninth-longest in UT history and the second-longest by a freshman … completed 8-of-11 passes for 162 yards and one TD at West Virginia … missed most of the last two games against Texas Tech and Baylor due to injury.
