Played in all 12 games as the primary punter … earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors from the league’s coaches … averaged 41.3 yards per kick with 32 fair catches, 19 inside the 20, and 17 punts over 50 yards to help Texas rank 15th in the nation in punt return defense (3.85 ypr) and 26th in net punting (39.3 ypp) … opponents only returned 13-of-77 punts (16.9 percent) all season … had at least one 50-plus punt in the first 10 games with a 49-yarder and 48-yarder in the other two … averaged over 42 yards per punt in five games … punted 10 times (42.3 ypp) with a long of 56, three fair catches, three 50-plus and two inside the 20 at Notre Dame … punted five times with an average of 36.6 yards, but dropped three inside the 20 and had a long of 59 against Rice … averaged 43.0 yards on three punts with 50-yarder, two fair catches and one touchback against Cal … again had three 50-plus with a long of 58 with three inside the 20 and three fair catches on seven punts (38.0 ypp) against Oklahoma State … induced five fair catches on eight attempts (41.0 ypp) with a long of 57 at TCU … averaged 41.7 yards on six punts, including a 53-yarder and three fair catches versus Oklahoma … earned Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week following a potential game-saving play in the fourth quarter against Kansas State by recovering a bad snap and pinning KSU inside its own 8-yard line … punted six times against the Wildcats, including a 51-yarder with under five minutes to play … averaged 45.8 yards on nine punts, including a long of 57 yards, with three downed inside the 20, and three 50-plus at Iowa State … hit a season-long 63-yarder as part of five punts (42.6 ypp) versus Kansas … averaged 43.8 yards on four punts with two 50-plus and two fair catches at West Virginia … posted three fair catches and two inside the 20 against both Texas Tech (8/41.9 ypp) and Baylor (6/40.5 ypp).
BEFORE TEXAS
During high school played Australian Rules Football, serving mostly as a defender … started each match in his career … averaged approximately 20 disposals per game (a kick/punt or a hand pass) … during 2014, participated for the Sydney Swans Academy (professional development team) and represented his state (NSW) … called his biggest game playing the grand final for the reserves team with the Sydney Swans.
