SENIOR (2015)
First-team Academic All-Big 12 selection … played in two games against TCU and Kansas.
JUNIOR (2014)
Played in the season opener vs. North Texas, seeing time as a reserve linebacker.
SOPHOMORE (2013)
Did not see game action ... earned defensive scout team player of the week leading up to the West Virginia and Oklahoma games.

Coached by Steve Van Meter (head coach) and Michael Lindsey (position coach) at Friendswood High School...unanimous first-team all-district selection as a senior...also honored with the Roy Carroll Big Heart Award...two-time letterman as defensive end...started 15 games and recorded 80 tackles, six sacks, and two blocked extra points his senior year...notched four tackles in 2011 state semifinal game against Lake Travis...started five games and posted 40 tackles and two sacks as a junior...gained experience playing center, offensive guard, and nose tackle as a sophomore...lettered in track and field as a senior as a shot-putter...was a bronze medalist in shot put at district finals his freshman year...also participated in wrestling...earned academic all-state, National Hispanic Merit Scholar, and AP Scholar with Honors distinctions his senior year...was part of the National Spanish Honor Society, National Journalism Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National Honor Society as a junior.

Born in Houston, Texas … parents are Ernest and Lisa Gonzales … has two sisters, Lena and Laura Gonzales, and one brother, Brady Burnett … his uncle, Tim Davis, was a place-kicker at Rice University (1970-72) … regularly visits Dell Children’s Hospital with the football team … volunteered with the Waco Salvation Army to help with West, Texas relief efforts … enjoys writing, listening to music, and watching movies … majored in corporate communication … five-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (fall 2011; fall 2013; spring 2014; fall 2014; spring 2015; fall 2015).
