- The National Football Foundation chose him for the Blair Scholarship, which honors students with outstanding athletic and student leadership.
- Member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national honor society; member of The Friar Society; and a recipient of the Mike Flynn Citizenship Award
- Also served as strawboss and foreman of the Texas Cowboys and was a member of the Order of the Alcalde.
