AS A SENIOR (2024-25)
- Finished fifth in the 100 back with a time of 47.90, was sixth in the 200 back (1:45.95) and was fourth in the 200 IM (1:46.04) against Georgia
- Finished third in the 200 back (1:42.01 - SB), posted another SB in the 200 IM with a time of 1:42.43 and fourth in the 400 IM with his final SB (3:41.16) at the Texas Invitational
- Swam the 200 back against Indiana in 1:43.88 and the 400 IM in 3:46.81
- Debuted for UT in the 200 free and finished in 1:38.22, was third in the 200 back (1:45.11) and third in the 200 IM at 1:47.46 in the win against LSU
2022-23 (Redshirt Sophomore): Named as the CSCAA NCAA Division II National Swimmer of the Year after becoming the first Maverick swimmer to ever win two national titles and as the first men’s swimmer to ever win a crown (2 men’s divers and one women’s swimmer had previously won NCAA titles)… Is the Mavs' first ever national swimmer of the year honoree... Won the 200-yard individual medley (1:44.33) and 200 backstroke (1:41.54) events… Had also set a national record in the 200 back with a time of 1:40.73 (1:39.53-altitude adjusted) during the TYR/CMU Invitational… That time ended up being 15th fastest in all of college swimming, behind only athletes from NCAA Division I Power 5 conferences, who set their marks at the NCAA or conference championships meets… Ranks sixth in NCAA Division II history in the 100 back at 46.06, a time set during the TYR/CMU Invitational… Ranks fifth in Division II history for the 200 IM and sixth for the 400 IM (3:45.98) with times from the NCAA Championships… Placed in the top four in all four of his individual events while scoring 71 points to co-lead the entire men’s field at the NCAA Championships… Was third in the 400 IM and fourth in the 100 back at the NCAA meet… Also led the Mavs to fifth (800 free), eighth (200 medley) and ninth place (400 medley) finishes in his three relay events… Received the maximum seven possible CSCAA All-America certificates for the second straight year, claiming six first team honors… Was also named as the RMAC Swimmer of the Year for the second straight year… Won all four of his individual events at the RMAC Championships, breaking his own RMAC Championship records in the 100 back (47.18) and 200 back (1:44.49) while also winning the 200 and 400 individual medleys despite not tapering to focus on the national meet… Scored 80 points to share the high-point award but was edged out of RMAC Championship Swimmer of the Meet award on tie-breaking procedures… Won six First Team All-RMAC certificates after helping the Mavs to second place finishes in both the 400 medley and 800 free relays… Was named as the RMAC Swimmer of the Week a league-high four times throughout the season… Was the high-point award-winner at the TYR/CMU Invitational and the Intermountain Shootout scoring 80 and 97 points in four and five events, respectively… Set five El Pomar Natatorium records during the TYR/CMU Invitational posting marks of 46.06 (100 Back), 1:40.73 (200 Back), 1:44.96 (200 IM), 3:50.23 (400 IM) and 1:26.73 (200 Medley Relay)… Ended up first on the NCAA season-long top times report in the 200 back (1:39.53), the 200 IM (1:43.76) and 400 IM (3:45.23)… Also ended up second in the 100 back (45.96) after entering the NCAA meet ranked first… Was also ranked ninth in the 200 free (1:35.58), 19th in the 50 free (19.89) and 27th in the 100 free (44.05) despite not swimming those events at the NCAA meet… Set CMU records in 10 different events throughout the season, including in eight individual disciplines… Now holds the Maverick record in 12 disciplines... Set new marks in his four NCAA Championship events as well as the 50 and 200 free and the non-championship 50 back (21.43) and 100 IM (50.72)… Also served as the lead-off on the Mavs’ 800 free (6:25.73) and 200 medley (1:26.73) relay teams teams… Also shined academically… Was named as the RMAC’s Men’s Swimming & Diving Academic Athlete of the Year and to the RMAC All-Academic First Team for the second straight year… Was a First Team Academic All-American as selected by CSC (College Sports Communicators), formerly known as CoSIDA… Was one of just ten NCAA Division II athletes on the first team for men’s swimming & diving and was selected alongside teammate Lane Austin after earning Third Team All-America@ honors for men’s at-large sports in 2021-22.
Summer 2022: Competed at the Phillips 66 USA Swimming National Championships in Irvine, California... Reached the "B" final in the 100 back, taking 15th place... Had posted a LCM personal-best of 55.16 in the preliminary heats to qualify tenth... That time is lower than the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifying standard of 55.69 but comes before the qualifying window opens on Nov. 30, 2022... Also placed 36th in the 200 back with an LCM career best of 2:04.36.
2021-22 (Redshirt Freshman): Competed in nine meets, during a record-setting and season… Was named as the RMAC Swimmer of the Year and earned CSCAA All-America honors in all seven of his events at the NCAA Division II Championships, including four first team honors… Also set school records in six different disciplines during the national meet and eight throughout the season… Was the national runner-up in the 200 back with a time of 1:41.53, the third fastest time in NCAA Division II history… Also placed fourth in the 100 back with a time of 46.38, the fastest true time in program history… Had set an altitude-adjusted school, pool and meet record time of 46.36 at the A3 Performance Invitational… Also finished tenth at the NCAA meet in the 200 IM with a school-record time of 1:46.41… Swam on four relays at the national meet, anchoring the 800 free relay to a third place finish, the highest relay finish in school history, in a school-record time of 6:29.29… Also set a 50 back school-record time of 21.51 while leading the Mavs to a school-record time of 1:27.00 and a sixth place finish… Also helped the Mavs finish ninth as the backstroke leg on CMU’s ninth place and school-records setting (3:12.21) 400 medley relay team… Helped the Mavs finish 13th in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:20.33 after setting a school-and pool record time of 1:20.05 earlier during the season at the A3 Performance Invitational… Accounted for 39 team points at the national meet in his three individual events and another 21 ½ as his share of the relay points… Won five RMAC titles, six first team and seven total all-conference honors at the RMAC Championships… Swept the backstroke titles, setting new RMAC Championship records of 47.31 (100) and 1:43.88 (200)… The 100-yard record came in the prelims… The 200-yard time was also a pool record… Also led-off the Mavs’ RMAC-winning 200 medley, 200 free and 400 medley relay teams… Also helped the Mavs place second in the 800 free while taking third in the 200 IM… Accounted for 56 team points in his three individual events and another 38 ½ when including his share of the relay points… Won all seven of his events while setting meet records in each during the A3 Performance Invitational en-route to Swimmer of the Meet honors… Set what was the sixth fastest 100 back time in NCAA Division II history (46.36)… Was also the fastest ever American Division II swimmer at the time… Now ranks second amongst Americans and ninth in Division II history… Was named as the RMAC Swimmer of the Week a league-high five times, including after the A3 meet, the last of four consecutive honors… Claimed seven dual-meet event wins throughout the season… Also shined academically… Was named as a Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-American for men’s at-large sports… Was a First Team CSCAA Scholar All-American… Also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 team for men’s at large sports and to the First Team RMAC All-Academic Team.
2020-21 (Freshman): Competed in seven meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships as a freshman… Had a phenomenal conference meet winning six RMAC titles and seven First Team All-RMAC plaudits… Also qualified for the national meet after setting NCAA “B” cut times in all seven… Was named as the RMAC Freshman of the Year and scored 57 team points in his three individual events and 87 total points, when accounting for his share of the relays… Won RMAC individual titles in both the 50 free and 1000 back while also helping the Mavs win conference titles in the 200 and 400 free and 200 and 400 medley relays… Posted a time of 20.01 to win the 50 free title… Led the RMAC season-long performance list with that mark, which is good for second all-time in CMU history… Won the 100 back in 48.02 seconds (47.92-converted), which also led the RMAC… Also ranks second in Maverick lore… Set a school-record altitude-adjusted time of 44.43 in the 100 free to place second… Led off school-record setting relay teams in both the 200 (1:20.27) and 400 (2:58.24-converted) free… Swam the butterfly third leg on the 200 and 400 medley relay teams, which posted winning times of 1:28.12 and 3:15.57… Contested the 100 back, 50 free and 100 free at the national meet… Finished 18th in the 100 back (48.45) and 29th in both freestyle events with times of 20.36 and 44.98 seconds… Started his collegiate career with a 50 free win at the Maverick Open… Had top-3 finishes in three of CMU’s four dual meets… Named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America team.
Prep: 2020 graduate of Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, Colorado… Coached by Lani Meyer… Named as the Mustangs’ team captain during his senior season, thwarted by the COVID-19 pandemic… Was an all-conference performer throughout his career... Qualified for the 5A State Championships in both 2018 and 2018… Finished 11th in the 100 free and 15th in the 100 back with personal-best and altitude-adjusted times of 47.12 and 52.21 at the 2019 Championships.
