Mace Thurman is entering his first season as a volunteer assistant with the Texas softball program in 2017.
A native of Spicewood, Texas, Thurman earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration from Texas State University in 2012.
Prior to his time in San Marcos, he studied and played baseball during the 2007 season at McLennan Community College and during the 2008 season at Baylor University before being drafted in the 19th round of the Major League Baseball Draft and playing four seasons in the Cincinnati Reds organization (June 2008-March 2012).
From 2011-14, Thurman worked as a coach and instructor for youth and teen baseball teams with Positive Baseball Development. He owns teaching certifications in special education (EC 7-12) and general education (EC K-6).
