OUTDOOR: Was part of the SMR that finished second with a time of 3:14.81, was fifth in the 800m with his time of 1:47.28 and was the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay that finished seventh (3:03.27)... Was part of the fourth-place 4x400 team at the Tom Jones Memorial that finished with a time of 3:93.51, ran the 400m in 46.81 and the 200m in 21.47... Finished third in the 400m at the Texas Invitational with a time of 46.50 and ran the 200m in 21.48... Finished eighth in the 400m at the Big 12 Championships with his time of 46.13... Competed in the 800m at the NCAA West Prelims and finished 16th with his time of 1:49.06 and helped UT qualify for the 4x400 at the NCAA Championships.... Helped Texas finish 11th at the NCAA Championships with the fifth-fastest time (3:01.90) in UT history.
INDOOR: Won the 400m at the Cardinal Classic with his time of 46.25, the 18th-best performance in Texas history, ran the 200m and helped Texas win the 4x400 with a time of 3:09.37... Was the runner-up in the 600 with his time of 1:15.72, ranking in the top-10 ever performance of the 600m in NCAA history at the Dr. MLK Jr. Invitational... Won the 400 at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic with his time of 45.83, the fourth-fastest time in Texas history... Finished fourth in the 400 at 45.78 and ran the second leg of the 4x400 that finished with the ninth-fastest time in UT history at 3:05.91 at the Tiger Paw Invite... Ran the 400 prelims at the Big 12 Championships and NCAA Indoor Championships.... Helped Texas to a 10th-place finish in the DMR with a time of 9:52.29...
2021-22 Season (Senior)
OUTDOOR: Broke a 45-year Barbados record in the 800m with a time of 1:45.83, which ranks as the second-fastest time in program history and was .01 second off from the Texas Relays record, helped Texas win the sprint medley relay with the No. 5 time in program history at 1:29.03 and was on the fourth-place 4x400 relay team at the Texas Relays… Won the 400m dash with a time of 45.07, the No. 4 time in Texas history and split 43.48 on the third leg of the winning 4x400 team that finished with a time of 3:02.33 in the dual meet against Texas A&M... Won the collegiate 400m race at the Mt. SAC Relays with a time of 45.30 and competed in the pro section of the 800m and finished with a time of 1:48.91 in fourth place... Won the 400m dash at the LSU Invitational with his time of 44.79, beating pros and finished .37 seconds faster than second place... Added to his legacy winning the 400m dash on the men's side with his school-record time of 44.43 and became the first Longhorn to win the event since 2014 at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships and helped Texas win the conference title... Recorded the fastest qualifying time out of the NCAA West Prelims (44.85) and helped Texas set the program record in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:00.71... Finished fourth in the 400m dash (44.93) and the NCAA Championships and ran the 4x400 relay to help Texas finish fourth with a time of 3:01.69 for a runner-up finish in the team standings... Advanced to the 400m finals at the 2022 World Championships with a time of 44.78, giving him all 10 of the top-10 times in Texas history competing for Barbados.
INDOOR: Ran the fastest collegiate 600m run time at the Clemson Invite that ranked as the No. 8 on the all-time list in NCAA history and the Barbados national record. Helped Texas win the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:05.21, the NCAA's second-fastest time... Ran the world-leading 600m time (1:15.12), which ranks as the No. 7 time in the NCAA record books and ranks as the No. 3 time in Indoor World History. Also added a second-place finish in the 400m with a time of 46.10, the current fifth-fastest time in the NCAA... Ran an NCAA-leading, Texas program record and Barbados national record in the 800m with the time of 1:46.93 at the Tiger Paw Invite... Ran a world-best time in the 600y to defend his title at 1:06.68, which ranks as a meet, Texas and NCAA record. He also helped the Longhorns win the 4x400 relay with a program-record time of 3:04.19... Was the runner-up in the 800m with a time of 1:47.93 and helped the 4x400 relay team finish second at the NCAA Indoor Championships on the way to winning the first ever team title in Texas history.
2020-21 (Junior)
OUTDOOR: Ran a Texas record time in the 4x400 relay at the Texas Relays at 3:01.28 to finish third overall... Won the men's 400m at the dual meet against Texas A&M with a time of 45.82 and finished second in the 4x400 with a time of 3:06.16... Competed at the LSU Alumni Gold meet... Ran a 21.16 200m time and finished second in the 400m time at 45.35 at the Texas Invitational... Championed the 4x400 at the Big 12 Championships with a time of 3:03.35 and finished third in the 400m with a time of 46.03... Finished 14th in the 400m dash at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and 10th in the 4x400 relay.
INDOOR: Ran a personal-best time in the 200m at the Corky Classic with a time of 21.08 to finish second and helped the 4x400 relay team finish second with a time of 3:09.87... Finished seventh at the Big 12 Championships in the 400m with a time of 48.91... Finished as a two-time First Team All-American at the NCAA Indoor Championships with an eighth-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:07.71) and third in the DMR with a school-record time of 9:23.73.
2019-20 (Sophomore)
OUTDOOR: 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
INDOOR: Ran in six meets … Opened with a victory in the 200m and third-place finish in the 4x400m at the FasTrak Collegiate Opener … helped the Longhorns win the 4x400m at the Leonard Hilton Invitational … placed fourth in the 200m and second in the 400m at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational … won the 400m and 4x400m, and helped UT pick up a second-place finish in the DMR, at the Razorback Invitational … topped the podium with a 45.78 in the 400m at the Tiger Paw Invitational … won the conference title in the 400m, clocking 45.90 in the final at the Big 12 Championships … also finished fourth in the 4x400m … earned USTFCCCA All-America honors in the 400m as an NCAA qualifier during the pandemic-shortened season … finished with the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA (45.78).
2018-19 (Freshman)
OUTDOOR: Helped Texas win the sprint and distance medley relays at the Texas Relays … placed second in the 400m at The Reveille Meet … earned bronze in the 400m at the National Relay Championships … finished second in the 400m at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships … also helped the Longhorns place fourth in the 4x400m as well … clocked a 45.02 at the NCAA West Prelminaries to break a 27-year-old school record in the 400m … topped his mark and became the first Longhorn to go sub-45 seconds (44.64) in the finals of the 400m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships … placed fourth to earn his second collegiate All-America honor, and his first outdoors … ran a 44.63 at the IAAF Diamond League meet in London to again break the UT record in the 400m.
INDOOR: Made his collegiate debut at the Reveille Invitational … helped the Longhorns place seventh in the 4x400m … won the 400m at the Ted Nelson Invitational in his second collegiate meet … also won his next three 400m outings, winning at the Clemson Invitational, Texas Tech Shootout and Big 12 Championships preliminaries … clocked a 45.38 at the Texas Tech Shootout to become the second-fastest indoor quarter-miler in UT history … finished fifth in the 200m at the Texas Tech Shootout behind a personal-best 21.16 mark … earned second-team All-America honors in the 400m at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
BEFORE TEXAS: Competed in the Carifta Games from 2015-18, earning four gold medals, four silver medals and a bronze medal … earned gold in the 800m each year from 2016-18 and gold in the 1500m in 2016 … earned silver in the 400m (2018), 1500m (2015) and the 4x400m (2016, ’18) … earned bronze in the 800m (2015) … competed in the 2017 Panama Juniors and was a finalist in the 1500m … also competed in the 2018 World Juniors and was a finalist in the 400m.
PERSONAL: Full name is Jonathan Noel Maurice Jones … son of Denise Hawkins … grandmother is Ruthshield Broomes and grandfather is Tyrone Broomes … has two sisters, Danae and Zamariah … was born in Florida.
