OUTDOOR:Ran the opening leg of the C. Price Jr. 4x400 relay at the Texas Relays that finished fourth with a time of 3:02.99, ran the 100m in 10.89 and helped Texas win both the Sprint Medley relay with the No. 5 time in program history (3:14.64) and the 4x200 with a time of 1:29.03 that ranks as the No. 2 time in Texas history... Ran the second leg of the winning 4x100 (39.08), ran a PB time of 45.64 to finish third in the 400m (No. 7 on the UT All-Time list) and ran the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay that ran the No. 4 time in the NCAA at 3:02.33 in the dual meet at Texas A&M... Finished eighth in the 200m (20.73w) and seventh in the 400m at 46.13 at the Mt. SAC Relays...Finished third in the 400m dash and helped Texas finish second in the 4x100 to lead Texas to a team title at the Big 12 Championships… Ran a personal-best time of 45.23 to break into the Texas all-time 400m list and helped Texas qualify in both the 4x100 and 4x400 for the NCAA Championships…Was the second leg on the 4x100 relay that finished sixth (39.06) and helped the Longhorns finish fourth in the 4x400 relay that ran a time of 3:01.69.
INDOOR: Competed in his first collegiate 300m and helped Texas run an NCAA-leading time in the DMR with a time of 9:37.58 and won the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:05.21 - the second-fastest time in the NCAA and the No. 4 performance in Texas history at the Clemson Invitational... Had a top-10 time in the 400m with a time of 47.22 and helped Texas finish third in the 4x400 relay at 3:07.21... Competed in the 60m and 200m at the New Mexico Collegiate Invite and posted times of 6.78 and 20.89... Ran the 200m in the 21.59 and the 400m in 46.93 seconds at the Tiger Paw Invite... Ran the 800m of the NCAA Champion DMR team that finished with a time of 9:25.20 and helped the Longhorns finish second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:04.55 to help Texs win its first ever NCAA Team Title.
2020-21 (Junior):
OUTDOOR: Began the outdoor season with a personal-best time in the 200m at 21.04 at the Longhorn Invitational... Helped Texas finish third in both relays at the Texas Relays with a time of 40.20 in the 4x100 and 3:01.28 in the 4x400... Finished second in the 400m at 47.16 and helped the Longhorns finish second at 3:06.16 at the dual meet against Texas A&M... Had three fourth-place finishes at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet - 400m (45.93), 4x100 (39.76) and 4x400 (3:08.25)... Competed in the 200 and 400 at the Texas Invitational... Finished seventh in the 400m and was part of the winning 4x400 relay with a time of 3:03.35... Ran a PB time in the 400m at the NCAA West Prelims with a time of 45.89 and helped the 4x400 relay team advance to the NCAA Championships... Finished 10th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 3:05.89.
INDOOR: Competed in three indoor meets... Finished ninth in the 200m (21.65) and helped Texas finish second in the 4x400 relay (3:07.88) at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in his Texas debut... Competed in the 200m (21.79), the 400m (47.37) and the 4x400 winning relay team (3:06.99) at the Tyson Invitational... Finished sixth in the 400m (47.38) and won the 4x400 relay (3:07.20) at the Big 12 Championships... Finished eighth at the NCAA Championships in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:07.71.
2019-20 (Sophomore at MTSU)
OUTDOOR: 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
INDOOR: Named to the C-USA Third Team All-Conference in the 400m and second-team All-Conference in the 4x400m … competed in nine meets and six different events … had 14 top-five finishes in total on the season … part of the 4x400m team that claimed silver at the C-USA Championships with a time of 3:12.30 … finished third in the 400m and fourth in the 200m at the C-USA Championships … claimed gold at the Boston University Last Chance Qualifier in the 400m with a time of 46.73 … notched a career-best 300m time of 33.96 at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational, finishing third …won the 200m at the BSC Indoor Icebreaker, in his first meet of the season.
2018-19 (Freshman)
OUTDOOR: Competed in nine meets … ran a personal-best 45.92 in the 400m at the NCAA D1 Regionals in the preliminary round … had five top-10 finishes at the C-USA Championships … has best individual finish was a fourth-place run in the 400m … placed third at the C-USA Championships with the 4x400m team … record a career-best long jump mark of 7.29m at the C-USA Championships, taking sixth place … inked a new career-best 200m time of 21.06 at the Tennessee Relays, where he finished fourth.
INDOOR: Competed in 10 meets during his freshman season, including the C-USA Championships and the Boston University Last Chance Qualifier … claimed silver in the 400m at the Last Chance Qualifier … won the 4x400m title at the C-USA Championships … also took sixth in the 400m and third in the 200m … added a seventh-place finish in the triple jump away from sprints competition.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in track and field twice … competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, long jump and triple jump … a two-time track and field NBN All-American … six-time Tennessee state champion … competed in the 400m at the 2019 USATF U20 Championships.
PERSONAL: Son of Gomez and Charzet Wright … has two brothers, Winston and Weldon, and three sisters, Whitney, Wesleight and Winter … the first member of his family to attend UT … brother, Weldon, ran track at Tennessee … started running track when he was a junior in high school … also played soccer and ran AAU while growing up … originally wanted to join the soccer team in high school, but tried out for track after a comment about how fast he was at soccer tryouts … also wanted to break his brother’s school records … enjoys singing, cooking, dancing, playing the piano, drums, guitar, bass, producing music and learning random facts in his free time … can also sing and dance … a Tennessee Science Olympiad state champion.
