2021-22 (Junior):
OUTDOOR:Won the 5000m run at the Texas Relays with a time of 13:48.80 that ranks as the fourth-fastest time in school history and helped the DMR finish fourth with a time of 9:50.47…Finished second in the 1500m with a personal best time of 3:43.59 in the dual meet against Texas A&M... Broke into the Texas 5000m All-Time list at No. 3 with his time of 28:33.38 at the Mt. Sac Relays...Was victorious in both races at the Penn Relays, claiming the individual title in the 5000m (13:47.05) and became the No. 4 performer in Texas history and helped the 4xmile (16:17.45) team win the event for the third time in Texas history… Finished second in the 5K at the Oregon Twilight and added his name to more records in Texas history with the No. 8 performance with a time of 13:51.96… Was the Big 12 Outdoor 5K runner-up… Competed in both the 5K and 10K at the NCAA West Prelims….
INDOOR: Opened the Indoor campaign at the Clemson Invite winning the mile with a PB time of 4:01.39... Competed in his first collegiate 3K at the Camel City Invitational and finished with a time of 7:51.79, becoming the No. 2 performer in Texas history with the second-best performance... Became the No. 2 performer in Texas history in his second event of the season in the men's mile with his time of 3:57.53 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational... Won his first Big 12 individual title in the men's 5000m with a time of 13:33 to break the Texas program record... Ran the anchor leg of the National Champion DMR team and helped Texas to its first ever NCAA Team Title. The DMR team was the second-ever squad to win a National Title in the event in Texas history...
Cross Country: Opened the 2021 cross country season winning the Tornado Watch Invitational in the men's 5K running a time of 14:56.4 to help the men's team score a perfect 15 points... Was the second Longhorn to finish at the Cowboy Jamboree, posting a top-10 finish (9th) in the 6K with a time of 23:57.5... Recorded a personal-best time in the 8K at the FSU Garnet Invite with a time of 23:28.2, helping the Longhorns finish sixth overall at the event... Helped the Longhorns finish third for the fourth straight season at the Big 12 Championships, finishing in the top 20 in the 8K with a time of 24:55.5... Finished fourth at the NCAA South Central Regional, earning USTFCCCA All-Region team honors in the men's 10K with his time of 30:18.6.... Became the 19th ever Cross Country All-American for Texas with his finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and personal best time of 29:28.1 in the 10K.
2020 Academic All-Big 12 First Team
2020-21 (Sophomore)
OUTDOOR: Began the outdoor season with a fifth-place finish in the 3000-meter run at the Longhorn Invitational with his time of 3:52.33... Finished eighth at the Texas Relays in the 10,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 29:35.00... Had two, top-five finishes at the Texas vs. Texas A&M meet where he finished second in the 1500 with a PB at 3:51.66 and won the 3000-meter run at 8:13.93... Ran the 5000-meter in 14:41.45 at the Michael Johnson Invitational... Closed out the season at the Big 12 Championships competing in the 5000-meter and finished 10th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:51.53.
INDOOR: Finished ninth at the Woo Pig Classic in the 3000-meter with a time of 8:26.30... Won the men's 5000-meter with a personal-best time of 14:11.48 at the Charlie Thomas Invitational... Posted his third consecutive top 10 finish during the indoor season at the Tyson Invitational in the mile with a time of 4:05.64... Competed in both the 3000-meter and 5000-meter run at the Big 12 Championships, posting time of 8:13.51 and 14:36.26, respectively.
CROSS COUNTRY: Competed in both cross country meets in the 2020 season... Opened his Texas career with a fifth-place finish in the 8K at the Arturo Barrios Invitational with a time of 24:06.2 and helped UT win the meet... Competed at the Big 12 Championships at KU, running the 8K in 24:38.8, helping the Longhorns to a third-place finish.
2019-20 (Freshman)
OUTDOOR: 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Did not compete.
HIGH SCHOOL: Finished third in the Texas high school cross country tournament as a senior … placed sixth in the Nike Cross Regional (NXR) South cross country competition with a time of 15:45.65 … began running track as a high school junior at age 15.
PERSONAL: Son of Amira Hassan and Ahmed Abdalla … brothers are Yousuf, Yahya and Yazeed … has lived in Maryland, Utah and Texas … plays the viola … won his high school’s African-American Heritage Award three times from 2017-19.
