Jamie Morrison joined the Texas Volleyball staff as volunteer assistant in January of 2021. Morrison is a past member of three Olympic medal-winning coaching staffs, working with the U.S Men’s National Volleyball Team that won gold in 2008, the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team that won silver in 2012 and bronze in 2016.
Most recently, Morrison served as the head coach of the Netherlands Women’s National Volleyball team from 2017-19. He led the team to a runner-up finish at the 2017 European Championship and a 4th-place finish at the 2018 World Championship.
Morrison also previously spent two stints with the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team spanning eight years, from 2009-12 and 2014-16. During that time he helped the women's volleyball national team capture a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and bronze at the 2016 Olympics.
Morrison spent two stints as a collegiate assistant coach, at UC Irvine from 2012-13 and at Concordia University (Calif.) from 2007-08. At Concordia, Morrison helped the Eagles reach the NAIA National Tournament twice and advance to the championship match in 2008.
In 2010-11, Morrison helmed the SVS Post Volleyball Club in Vienna, Austria, leading the team to a 32-6 record for the best season in club history. The club’s achievements included an Austrian Championship and a silver medal in the Middle European League.
Morrison also has considerable experience on the men’s side and spent four years (2005-09) with the U.S. Men’s National Team as an assistant coach and technical coordinator. During his tenure, Morrison aided Team USA to a 107-33 record, including Olympic gold in Beijing, China and its first-ever gold medal at the World League Finals in 2008. In Beijing, Team USA defeated Brazil and progressed through the Olympic Games without losing a match.
Morrison received a degree in business economics from the UC Santa Barbara with a minor in sports administration.
