Prior to joining John Fields’ staff at Texas, Henson served as the head boys’ golf coach at Highland Park High School in Dallas for three years (2019-22). After the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Henson sent two teams to the 2021 UIL state tournament and guided the Blue Team to the state title and the Golf Team to a third-place finish. Along with the two team medals, Preston Cooper captured the individual state championship. In his final year at Highland Park, Henson guided the Blue Team to a second-place showing and the Gold Team to a third-place finish at the 2022 UIL state tournament.
