Career
• Helped lead the Longhorns to two Southwest Conference titles (1991-92) and two College World Series appearances (1992-93) in his three seasons.
• Headlined a 1993 squad that currently ranks among the top 10 teams in school history for runs scored, RBI, doubles, home runs, and walks.
• Currently ranked first in career slugging percentage with a .676 mark and seventh in batting average (.360).
• Recorded 43 home runs, 116 extra base hits and 67 doubles during his career to rank second all-time in those categories. Also posted 215 RBI, which is good for third all-time in school annals.
• Finished his three-year career on the mound ranked fifth in school history in innings pitched (345) and starts (48), while placing seventh in shutouts (7) and ninth in wins (34).
• Posted career-highs in home runs (19), doubles (27), total bases (182), RBI (81), wins (16) and innings pitched (149.2) as a junior as he cracked the top 10 on the school single-season lists for those statistical categories.
• Held down the No. 1 spot in the Longhorns' starting pitching rotation as a sophomore and led the team in wins (11), complete games (6) and shutouts (3).
• Established UT freshman hitting records with 14 home runs, 143 total bases, 66 RBI and a .701 slugging percentage during the 1991 season.
• Anchored the Longhorns pitching staff as a freshman with a 7-1 record, including a team-leading three shutouts, and allowed no earned runs in 10 of his 18 appearances.
• Named the Alaskan League Summer MVP for two consecutive seasons (1991-92).
• Knocked in eight RBI versus Oklahoma during an 11-10 UT win on March 11, 1992.
• Drove in seven runs against UT-Arlington during an NCAA Regional game on May 23, 1992, to help Texas post a 17-1 victory over the Mavericks.
• Pitched 34 straight scoreless innings as a freshman, falling two innings short of the Texas school record set by Roger Clemens in 1982.
• Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first round (No. 10 overall) of the 1993 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
