Outfielder garners first career weekly league distinction
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns standout Anthony Pack Jr. was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Pack Jr. shared the prestigious honor with Missouri's Blaize Ward.
In the Longhorns' series victory at South Carolina, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound outfielder reached safely in 10 of his 13 plate appearances.
Pack Jr. slashed .727/.769/.909 and tallied three consecutive multi-hit performances, delivering the game-winning two-run double in the series-securing 4-1 win on Saturday.
The Lakewood, Calif., native became just the third Texas true freshman to mount eight hits across a three-game series since 2019, joining Eric Kennedy and Jared Thomas.
For the week, Pack Jr. totaled a .563 average and a 1.299 OPS.
He is the fifth Longhorn to collect an SEC weekly honor in 2026, joining Dylan Volantis (Feb. 16), Temo Becerra (March 3), Sam Cozart (March 9) and Ruger Riojas (March 30).
No. 2 Texas returns to action against Incarnate Word on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
