Ten things you need to know about Mickayla Padilla

1. Bleed Lime Green. "Mic is infatuated with the color lime green. Her bedroom is covered in it, her head bands, her eye shadow and her socks," says Megan Willis. You can look in her wardrobe, house, or even her car and you will undoubtedly find lime green anything ... if they make it in lime green, she has it.
2. Cleaning out the litter box. Cat Osterman says, "She puts up with my mess since we live together." She is a very neat and clean person. "While living with fellow Dez Williams last year, she was constantly cleaning their room, because Dez was so messy," says senior Tina Boutelle.
3. Yes, your heard that right. "She snorts while she laughs and she isn't ashamed of it. Mic is one of my favorite people to make laugh because her laughs are genuine," says fellow sophomore Rachael Cook. You can hear her snort from a mile away. It is a very unique laugh/snort combination.
4. Just "short" of perfection. Boutelle says, "Mic has a ring finger named 'Wang Nub'. The reason for the name is because she lost the tip of her finger in a tragic folding chair accident when she was younger. But the good news is it still grows a nail!" Not only does she have a short ring finger but apparently she has a short leg. Kacie Gaskins says, "One day in the locker room, I realized why MicKayla gets around the bases so fast. She told me her left leg is shorter than her right, so that turn on the inside of the bases is easy because she is already leaning that way."
5. Mic of all Trades. "Not everyone knows how artistically talented Mic is. She has many artistic hobbies," says Amber Hall. Over the Christmas break she picked up a few more pastimes. "She has recently taken up cross-stitch and knitting in her free time," says freshman Kelly Melone. A short time ago, she knitted a 'lime green' scarf for herself ... imagine that!
6. Hey Mickey! "What ever you do, do not call her Mickey. She hates when people call her Mickey. Especially when you sing 'Hey Mickey' to her," says fellow outfielder Boutelle. MicKayla prefers any nickname but Mickey.
7. Full Throttle. Coach Connie Clarks says, "Give her a challenge and she will get after it. She has a very competitive streak, but you don't know that when you first meet her ... look out!" She will give you all she has everyday in practice and games.
8. She's got the beat. "Mic and I make the hottest beats with only our hands and feet. We like to compare ourselves to Kanye West or N.E.R.D.," says freshman Shannon Thomas. "She can flow about any subject you give her. It's hilarious to listen to."
9. Next stop: cosmetology school! "I would love to be a cosmetologist and do make-up and hair for the movies or runway shows," says MicKayla. She loves to do the players' make-up on the team. "I let her do my make-up when we go out dancing or to dinner. She gets so excited about it," says Boutelle.
10. Crazy Aunt Padilla. "She has a niece and a nephew who she totally adores and they just love their aunt MicKayla too. They are fun to watch together," says Coach Marla Looper. She will teach them songs to sing at the games and make them memorize quotes from movies like Napoleon Dynamite," says Boutelle. She really loves her little nephew and niece. They are the teams' head cheerleaders in the stands.
