Ten things you need to know about Jaclyn Daniels

Ever wanted to know more about your favorite Texas softball players? This season, find out 10 things you need to know about them, straight from their teammates and coaches.
1. Jack Daniels?!? "The answer to your question is yes. Her name really is Jac Daniels," says Kacie Gaskin. Her real name is Jaclyn Daniels but the teams likes to call her Jac Daniels, without the 'k,' of course. Or just JD if they're in a hurry.
2. Cribs, The Car Edition. "This girl has had more cars in one year than my family has had my whole life! She had an Explorer, then a Montero Sport, then a Suburban, and finally her Tahoe that she has now," says roommate Tina Boutelle.
3. Name that tune. Sophomore Desiree Williams says, "Jac keeps me up to date with all my music. Let me tell you, she always knows the words to EVERY punk song known." If you have a question about hip hop and rap, ask Jackie Williams, but if you have a question about lyrics to Indie rock/punk/emo music, then Jac is your girl.
4. Lucky number 13? She chose her number because it's so lucky for her ... at least that's what she says. Since she's been at Texas, she's overcome some obstacles with injuries. "Her first year, she broke her thumb in practice. Last year she sprained her ankle several times in a kinesiology class and this year, her back goes out on her," says Boutelle. "This girl's a trooper ... she's accident-prone, but after each incident, she comes back without missing a beat," says Amber Hall. She's had a lot of luck with that number, too, though. Jac has hit several pinch-hit home runs since arriving at Texas. Clutch! "She's got a big bat," says head coach Connie Clark.
5. There's a Sanger, Texas?!?! "She is from a small town in Texas and she thought no one would know where it was. I think I was the only one at the time who knew where Sanger was because I always drive through it on the way to my home in Oklahoma," says assistant coach Marla Looper. "She's proud that there's only one stoplight in Sanger, her hometown," says senior Cat Osterman.
6. Master of Puzzles. "She does New York Times crosswords and the SuDoku puzzles in the Daily Texan everyday," says sophomore Rachael Cook. "Jac, Kelly, Brittany and I are addicted to the SuDoku puzzles. When we were at the airport, we all splurged and bought books that were nothing but SuDoku puzzles," says Boutelle.
7. "I wear my sunglasses at night..." "Jac always wears her sunglasses so she has nice raccoon tan lines on her face," says Cook. "She has an obsession with her sunglasses. Jac won't spend money on little things, but if she finds a good pair of sunglasses, she'll splurge on them," says freshman Kelly Melone.
8. Triplets on the Texas softball team?!?! "Kelly Melone, Cat Osterman and Jac have been named 'DeAnn Triplets' because they are always in the training room getting worked on by our athletic trainer, DeAnn," says Boutelle. They may not look alike, but according to the team, DeAnn can claim three daughters she never knew she had.
9. The Riddler. "Jac always has a joke," says pitcher Megan Denny. "She can make anything funny. Everyday I laugh at something she has to say." Sometimes it is hard to tell if she is joking or being serious because she keeps a very stern look on her face.
10. Strike three = Turkey? MicKayla Padilla says, "Jac is a great bowler." She will dominate anyone that faces her on the alley. "She has a mean curve on her ball every time. If she doesn't get more than one strike a game, she gets upset," says Boutelle. Talk about a competitor. Geez, Jac, its just a game!
