Former University of Texas baseball star Kyle McCulloch was named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
McCulloch, a first round pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2006, made two starts and went 1-0 on the week for the Winston-Salem Warthogs, the White Sox Class A Advanced affiliate.
McCulloch allowed three runs in six innings while striking out three against the Frederick Keys on June 4, but did not factor in the decision. In his next start, he logged a season-high eight strikeouts in seven scoreless innings as the Warthogs blanked the Wilmington Blue Rocks 3-0 last Saturday.
For the year, McCulloch is 4-5 with a 3.50 ERA.
McCulloch, a three-year letterman at UT, was a member of the Longhorns' 2005 national championship team. He logged a 27-9 career record at Texas.
