Bayne, Anderson close season at U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS -- A successful season filled with NCAA All-American performances and individual Big 12 Champions came to a close for the Texas women's track and field team as sprinters Alexandria Anderson and Chauntae Bayne ended the 2007 competition season on Friday, June 22, with semifinal performances at the 2007 AT&T Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Indiana University's Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium.
In the 100-meter dash, Big 12 Indoor 60 Meter Champion Anderson ran 11.44 seconds into a negative headwind (-0.7 miles per hour) in the second heat of the semifinals. Anderson did not make the final field of eight but ends the 2007 campaign on a high note with a 100-meter personal best of 11.11, which came in Thursday's first round, a lifetime best in the 200-meter dash (22.95), and as a four-time outdoor All-American in the 100, 200, and 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays.
Bayne (Fort Worth, Texas) concludes her first season on the Forty Acres with a 53.67-second performance in the semifinals of the 400. The 2007 Big 12 400 Meter Champion, Bayne was a strong performer in the sprints for Texas, finishing with outdoor All-American honors in the 100, 200, 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays.
Texas exes Sanya Richards and Moushaumi Robinson advanced to the 400-meter final. Ricahrds, the American and meet quarter mile record holder, ran 50.02 to lead the advancers in the first heat while Robinson, competing in the second heat, completed the one lap race in 51.66.
