Former Baseball player and assistant coach Deron Gustafson passes away

AUSTIN, Texas -- Former University of Texas baseball player and assistant coach Deron Gustafson passed away on Thursday morning.
Gustafson played for the Horns from 1981-83 and was a member of Texas' 1983 National Championship team. He served as back-up second baseman for the national champs, hitting .306 in 18 games.
Gustafson, son of former Longhorns head coach Cliff Gustafson, served as an assistant coach at UT for 13 seasons from 1984-96.
Arrangements for funeral services are pending.
