AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Softball team improved its fall exhibition record to 4-0 with its 10-1 victory over Odessa College on Wednesday night.
Junior designated player Tallie Thrasher got the Horns' offense going in the third inning when she laced an RBI single to rightfield to score junior infielder Loryn Johnson.
In the fourth, junior utility player Torrey Schroeder led off the frame with a single to centerfield. Senior infielder Crystal Saenz pinch ran for Schroeder and came around to score when sophomore shortstop Raygan Feight reached on an error. Senior catcher/outfielder Kacie Gaskin helped add to the UT lead when her RBI-squeeze bunt plated junior outfielder Brittany Chalk.
Texas added to its edge in the eighth when an RBI double by Saenz brought home junior outfielder Kori Cook who had reached on a walk. Junior transfer Megan Paris scored Saenz with an RBI single.
The Longhorns' five-hurler pitching staff all saw work in the victory with junior righthander Erin Tresselt starting and tossing two innings. Senior Desiree Williams replaced her and threw one inning before giving way to sophomore Brittany Barnhill who went two frames. Freshman Courtney Craig came on in relief of Barnhill to throw one inning and Schroeder tossed the final two.
Texas concludes its fall season on Wednesday, Nov. 12 when it plays host to McLennan Community College at 7 p.m.
