Game 1: Texas 11, Bowling Green 3
Texas got on the board in the first when senior first baseman Desiree Williams led off the frame with a double and came around to score on junior designated player Loryn Johnson's RBI single through the right side. The Falcons answered in the second, plating two runs on an RBI double by designated player Melissa Bott to claim a 2-1 edge.
The Longhorns responded with three runs in the second, taking advantage of three hits and a Bowling Green error to take a 4-2 lead. Freshman rightfielder Courtney Craig kicked off the frame with a single and came home on senior centerfielder Kacie Gaskin's RBI single. Williams followed with a line drive home run to empty the bases and give the Horns' a two-run advantage.
The Falcons rallied for a run in the fifth, but Texas battled back for two runs in the bottom of the frame, scoring one on an RBI single by Craig and the second on a fielder's choice. The Longhorns then exploded for five runs in the sixth to end the game via run-rule. A pair of hits and a walk set the stage for senior infielder Kelly Melone who connected for a grand slam that moved the score to 10-3. Freshman third baseman Nadia Taylor followed with a triple to centerfield and an RBI single by junior leftfielder Brittany Chalk ended the game, 11-3.
Game 2: Texas 3, Penn State 2
The Longhorns kicked off the scoring in game two with a leadoff single by sophomore catcher Amy Hooks and a two-run home run by freshman third baseman Nadia Taylor that put UT ahead, 2-0.
Texas added to its lead in the fifth when Williams tagged her second home run of the day to give the Horns a 3-0 advantage. The Nittany Lions answered in the sixth with a two-out rally that pushed two runs across. Penn State drew a walk to start the rally and Barnhill hit the next batter before allowing an RBI single to second baseman Kayce Zielinski. A throwing error on Zielinski's single allowed a second run to come home, narrowing the margin to 3-2.
