PARRISH, Fla. -- University of Texas freshmen Madison Pressel (77-71-71) and Desiree Dubreuil (76-69-79) carded 54-hole totals of 8-over-par 224 to tie for 19th place and record their first top 20 performances of the spring season at the Central District Invitational. As a team, the Longhorns (304-302-300) finished 10th in the 15-team field at 42-over 906.
Pressel's 1-under 71 on Tuesday morning marked UT's lowest final round score on the par-72, 6,099-yard River Wilderness Golf Club. After beginning her round on the ninth hole, Pressel was 2-under through 11 holes before carding back-to-back bogeys on the second and third holes. She notched her third birdie on her final hole to result in the 1-under scorecard.
Sophomore Nicole Vandermade (76-77-77) finished six strokes behind Pressel and Dubreuil and tied for 44th place with a 14-over 230. Freshman Haley Stephens (75-80-76) finished at 15-over 231 and tied for 50th, while freshman Katelyn Sepmoree (77-81-76) recorded an 18-over 234 and tied for 60th.
Florida claimed a wire-to-wire victory (290-281-286) with a 7-under 857. TCU (295-296-295) finished second at 22-over 886, and Purdue (295-303-291) finished three strokes behind at 25-over 889 for third place.
Florida sisters Isabelle Lendl (74-67-71) and Markia Lendl (72-70-70) finished atop the leaderboard with stroke-play scores of 3-under 212, but Isabelle was deemed the winner in a scorecard playoff that was determined by the lowest final nine-hole total. Arkansas' Kelli Shean (71-69-76) earned third place with an even-par 216.
The Longhorns will continue the spring season March 8-10 at the UNLV Spring Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev.

POST-TOURNAMENT QUOTES
Head Coach Martha Richards
On the team's overall performance: I was pleased with most everything I saw on the golf course today. We're close to putting together complete rounds right now, not only as a team, but also individually. I felt a lot better about this week and the improvement I've seen just with three or four days of practice. Having last weekend's tourney (Peg Barnard Invitational) under our belt gave us a lot more composure and a lot more fight this week.
On freshman Madison Pressel: I walked most of the day with Madison - she played much better. She hit the ball pretty well yesterday, but she didn't make many putts, and I really wanted to walk, watch and get a feel if some of the techniques we worked on yesterday were helping. She also worked on some drills herself, and she played much better as a result. So it was good, a really enjoyable round to watch, watching a 1-under round of golf.
On continued preparations for the spring season and the upcoming UNLV Spring Invitational: I feel like we are a much improved group, and everyone has made a real quick turnaround. Their energy was great, they carried themselves really well and competed hard the whole time. I think what we're going to keep working on is continuing to work on our short game. Nicole (Vandermade) had one of her best weeks I've ever seen for short game, and we have got to work a little bit on some wind drills, because we very well may get that out in Las Vegas. We played a lot of wind today, which you would think playing in Texas, you'd be prepared, but we have to keep working on playing with the cross winds and practicing with that. I hope it warms up and we have a little bit of wind, not a ton of wind, but just 10 or 15 mph to practice in to get us ready for Las Vegas.
