AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Women's Golf team (296-306-305=907) carded a final-round 17-over-par 305 at The University of Texas Golf Club and finished the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in fifth place at 43-over 907. Senior Shannon Fish (70-78-76=224, +8) and freshman Madison Pressel (72-78-74=224, +8) led UT on the individual leaderboard with 54-hole scores of 8-over-par 224 and tied for 13th place.
The Longhorns have recorded back-to-back top-five finishes in their last outings, including a second-place showing at the UNLV Spring Invitational.
Pressel led the Texas 'A' team with a 2-over 74, marking the best round of her Betsy Rawls debut. Freshman Desiree Dubreuil (75-75-75=225, +9) finished one stroke behind Pressel at 9-over 225 and tied for 16th place, while sophomore Nicole Vandermade (72-76-79=227, +11) tied for 23rd place at 11-over 227. Freshmen Haley Stephens (77-77-77=231, +15) and Katelyn Sepmoree (79-79-80=238, +22) finished tied for 33rd and 58th places, respectively.
Playing in the final Betsy Rawls tourney of her collegiate career, Fish recorded her best finish in the annual home competition for the Longhorns, having never finished higher than 38th in the event.
Wind continued to wreak havoc on the field, as Sunday's conditions proved to be the most difficult of the weekend. Average scores jumped from 77.23 and 77.42 on Friday and Saturday to 79.51.
UCLA (295-290-299=884, +20) recorded a wire-to-wire victory with a 20-over 884. Arizona (301-285-304=890, +26) finished six strokes behind for second place, and Texas A&M (299-290-308=897, +33) collected third place.
Medalist Sarah Zwartynski (70-72-71) from Texas A&M was the only player to finish under par at 3-under 213. Vanderbilt's Marina Alex (73-70-76=219, +3) trailed Zwartynski by six strokes for runner-up honors, and two players tied for third place at 4-over 220.
The Longhorns will now remain idle for nearly two weeks before competing in the ASU/PING Lady Sun Devil on April 9-11, their final tune up before the Big 12 Championship (April 23-35 in Norman, Okla.).
