No. 7 Baseball records second consecutive shutout versus No. 17 Oklahoma, 2-0

NORMAN, Okla. -- A day after posting a four-hit shutout over the No. 17 Oklahoma Sooners, the No. 7 Texas Longhorns improved upon the effort with a three-hit, 2-0 blanking on Friday evening at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Cole Green (6-0) put in his longest outing of the season, scattering three hits and two walks while striking out six over 7.2 scoreless innings. Chance Ruffin retired all four batters he faced over 1.1 innings, including one with a strikeout, to earn his seventh save of the season.
Bobby Shore (4-1) was the hard-luck loser for the Sooners. He yielded two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out seven over 7.0 innings. Jeremy Erben retired all six batters he faced over 2.0 innings, including three strikeouts, to keep the Sooners in the contest.
The only scoring of the game came in the second inning. Russell Moldenhauer reached on a leadoff walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. After Kevin Keyes fanned and Tant Shepherd popped up, Kevin Lusson drew a walk to put a pair on. Connor Rowe roped a 1-2 offering down the leftfield line to plate both runners and stake the Longhorns to a 2-0 lead.
Rowe finished the game as the only player with multiple hits, going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Shepherd went 1-for-3 with one walk, one double and two stolen bases.
Along with Thursday night's 5-0 win, Texas (20-7, 6-2 Big 12) recorded the first back-to-back shutouts by a team against Oklahoma (22-5, 3-3 Big 12) since Oklahoma State did the deed against the Sooners on May 13-14, 2006 in Norman. Texas last recorded back-to-back shutouts on Feb. 28-Mar. 2009 against Penn State.
The win also assured Texas of a series win against Oklahoma for the 12th consecutive season.
Texas will go for the series sweep on Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
