Texas
Head Coach Connie Clark
Opening Statement: We came out with a lot of energy and that's something that we've been keying on all week, and what a great night to get a few records and the overall homerun record with how well we were swinging it. I thought the defense was sharp, I thought Blaire [Luna] and Amy Hooks worked very well together, so overall it was a good win.
On getting off to a good start: I think it was absolutely critical for us to come out after we had a little bit of a lull over the last week. Just to be off of finals and come out and get off to a good start and to execute the things we talked about working on in practice felt good.
Pitcher Blaire Luna
On her performance: I'm happy with my performance. I know this week I was working through a lot of stuff, like the mental part of the game and I think my confidence is an issue that I've kind of had to deal with. Coach Clark has helped me a lot and my teammates have picked me up a lot and I'm really excited how they hit the ball.
Left Fielder Courtney Craig
On the game: We were really focused, we were trying to stay relaxed and just tried to focus in and play Texas softball.
Right Field Taylor Hoagland
On hitting home runs: We don't go up there looking for home runs, they just kind of come, but we were definitely feeding off of Courtney's home run. The adrenaline kind of kept coming so it was a nice to set the tone.

Head Coach Jaime Wohlbach
Opening statement: We played a really hard fought game, the girls played with a lot of heart. Texas really executed the big ball and took care of business with the long ball. They played a very good game and hit the ball well, but I really think defensively and also our pitching staff, we held our own and did a good job.
On bouncing back: In our team talk, we said if you play with a lot of heart and a lot of energy and just really stay focused on the fundamentals of softball, then the results aren't determined until the end of the game. Anything can happen in our sport. They are playing a very good, solid softball team, but I think we held our own and did what we could. We played with a lot of heart and we bounce back tomorrow and do what we know what we can do best.
Pitcher Sarah Jackson
On Texas adjusting to her pitching: I feel that they really took advantage of my outside pitches. They worked my count to where they made me throw a lot of pitches which potentially got me tired a little bit, but they caught up to my speed and just took advantage of it.
