Three Longhorns earn All-American status

AUSTIN, Texas -- Cole Green, Chance Ruffin and Brandon Workman were named to the Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American baseball teams by Collegiate Baseball newspaper on Thursday afternoon.
Green and Ruffin both earned first-team honors as starting pitcher and relief pitcher, respectively. Workman was named a second-team starting pitcher.
Green is 10-1 with a 2.64 ERA in 15 games. The junior has pitched four complete games, including two shutouts in his 14 starts. He has allowed just 77 hits and 23 walks while striking out 66 over 99.2 innings. Green was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and was a first-team All-Big 12 selection.
Ruffin leads the nation with his 0.77 ERA and 13.73 strikeouts per nine innings. On the year, the Longhorns' closer owns a 6-1 record with 13 saves. He has allowed just 37 hits and 18 walks while striking out 89 over 58.1 innings. He is a finalist for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award and earned All-Big 12 honors for the third straight year.
Workman is 11-1 with a 3.77 ERA in 15 starts. The northpaw has three complete games on the year and has fanned 90 batters in 90.2 innings of work. He was named a first-team All-Big 12 pitcher after posting a 8-0 record in league action.
Texas has had multiple players named to the Louisville Slugger All-America team in six of the last nine years.
The Longhorns own a 46-11 record on the season and open up NCAA Championship regional action Friday with a 6:30 p.m. game against Rider at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
