Ellis falls in singles finals at Duke Invitational

CARY, N.C. -- Texas sophomore Aeriel Ellis suffered a straight-set defeat in the finals of the "B" singles draw Sunday on the final day of the Duke Invitational.
The 15th-ranked Ellis (Hayward, Calif.) fell victim to Duke's 25th-ranked Reka Zsilinszka, 6-2, 6-4 in Sunday's finals. Texas' Krista Damico, Caroline Larsson and Maggie Mello also fell in straight sets in their respective consolation-round matches.
The Longhorns resume competition on Friday, Sept. 24 at the UNLV Invitational.
