Freshman Christasha McNeil fell in her match on Thursday in College Station.
College Station, Texas – Texas Women's Tennis freshman Christasha McNeil closed play at the ITA Central Sectional Championships in College Station, Texas, on Thursday.
McNeil fell to No. 79 Salakthip Ounmang of Oklahoma in the first round, 6-3, 7-6 (3). McNeil broke first in both sets, but Ounmang was able to answer each. In the first set, Ounmang broke again for 5-3 lead before serving out the set.
In the second set, the players combined for six breaks in a span of seven games that took the score from a 3-1 lead for McNeil back to 5-5. The set then went to a tiebreaker where Ounmang used a 3-0 run to turn a 3-2 lead into a 6-2 advantage before winning, 7-3.
