TEAM NOTES
- Texas leads the all-time series with Kansas, 9-2. The Longhorns are undefeated in Austin against the Jayhawks with a 5-0 record and Mack Brown owns a 7-0 career record vs. Kansas.
- UT is 40-8 (.833) at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium/Jamail Field against Big 12 opponents. Overall UT is 71-12 (.855) under Mack Brown in home games.
- Mack Brown has an 84-24 all-time record in Big 12 games. The 84 wins are the second most since 1998 for any Big 12 school. Texas has a 53-15 record in its last 68 Big 12 games.
- The Longhorns are now 18-4 (.818) under Mack Brown following a bye week, including a 2-0 record this season. Texas also defeated Iowa State, 37-14, following the first of two bye weeks this season.
- Texas posted its first shutout since 2005 when they defeated Baylor 62-0 on the road. The last home shutout was in the 2004 season opener against North Texas (65-0).
- The Longhorns scored 43 points, the second time this season they have topped the 40-point mark.
- With 590 yards of total offense, Texas now has 70 games in its history with 500 or more yards of total offense. The output ranks 28th on UT's all-time list. It is the second time this season with 500 or more yards as the Longhorns had 506 against Rice in the season opener.
- Texas amassed over 400 rushing yards in a game (441) for the first time since Sep. 3, 2005 when the Longhorns rolled up 418 yards in a 60-3 win over Louisiana Lafayette. It was the most rushing yards for UT since the 2004 season opener when they rushed for 513 yards vs. North Texas.
- UT held Kansas to 36 total plays which is the fewest plays allowed in Big 12 conference play history. The previous low was 44 by Kansas State against Tennessee Tech on Sept. 26, 2009.
- Kansas entered the game averaging 188.0 rushing yards per game. The Longhorns' defense held them to negative two yards on 20 carries, 190 below the average. The Jayhawks were also held to just 46 total yards which is 359.3 below their average.
- The negative two yards rushing allowed is tied for the 20th best performance since 1944.
- The 46 yards of total offense is the second-lowest by a Texas opponent since 1944. The Longhorns held Southwestern to 37 yards in 1944.
- This game marked just the third time in school history Texas has recorded over 500 yards of total offense (590) while holding the opponent to under 100 total yards (46). The other two games were in 2001 against Kansas (606-67) and UTEP in 2009 (639-53).
- Texas had two freshmen rush for over 100 yards for the first time in school history. Malcolm Brown recorded 119 yards on 28 carries and Joe Bergeron finished with 136 yards on 13 carries. It is the 27th time in school history two players have rushed for over 100 yards in the same game.
- Texas had 21 different players take a snap on the opening offensive series of the game that covered 59 yards on 11 plays and resulted in a six-yard touchdown run by Malcolm Brown.
- UT scored on its opening possession for the first time this season and first time since 2010 when they kicked a field goal against Baylor. It was the first touchdown on an opening drive for the Longhorns since 2009 at Baylor when Colt McCoy found Jordan Shipley for a three-yard touchdown pass. In the first six games this season, the first offensive possessions for the Longhorns resulted in four punts, one turnover on downs and one lost fumble.
- The last time Texas had touchdowns on each of its first two drives was Oct. 24, 2009 at Missouri. The last time the Longhorns scored on each of its first two drives was last season at Nebraska when they had a field goal and a touchdown to start the game.
- The Longhorns have not allowed a touchdown on the opening possession this season. UT forced a punt on Kansas' opening possession, marking the fifth time in seven games they have not allowed points on the opponents' first offensive series. Only BYU and Oklahoma scored on their opening possessions, each with a field goal.
- This game marked the third time this season the Longhorns have not allowed a single point in the first quarter and second time they did not give up a point in the first half or in the first three quarters (Iowa State). Texas has held opponents scoreless in 11-of-27 quarters this season.
- For the game Texas held large advantages in first downs (35-3), rushing yards (441-[-2]), passing yards (149-48), total yards (590-46) and time of possession (44:07-15:53).
- UT held a 58-13 advantage in total plays, outgained Kansas 316-10 in total yards and had a 21-1 advantage in first downs in the first half. The Longhorns controlled the clock with 24:35 time of possession.
- The Longhorns rushed for 207 yards in the first half, giving them 200 or more rushing yards in four of the seven games this season.
- Texas recorded a safety for the second consecutive game when Kansas was called for a penalty in the end zone. The last time Texas had safeties in back-to-back games was 1982 against Texas A&M on Nov. 25 and against Arkansas (Dec. 4). The last time UT posted two safeties in one season was 2004 against Arkansas and Baylor in a three-game span. The Longhorns also had a safety against Oklahoma State when Alex Okafor caused the quarterback to step out of the back of the end zone.
- Texas forced two turnovers in the game to give them at least two caused turnovers in five of the seven games this season.

- UT is now 83-24 in Big 12 Conference play
- UT is now 116-5 when outrushing an opponent
- UT is now 71-1 when rushing for more than 200 yards
- UT is now 102-20 when outpassing an opponent
- UT is now 106-5 when recording more than 400 total yards of offense
- UT is now 98-13 when scoring first

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
David Ash
- True freshman David Ash earned his second career start and completed 14-of-18 passes for 145 yards and one interception. He also rushed for 29 yards and one touchdown on six attempts.
- Ash had a two-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter for his first career rushing score.
- The 145 passing yards tied a season high for Ash who also threw for 145 yards against Iowa State.
Joe Bergeron
- True freshman Joe Bergeron scored his first career rushing touchdown in the third quarter on a four-yard carry. He would later add a 35-yard rushing touchdown to give him two scores in the game.
- Bergeron rushed for a season-high 136 yards on 13 carries. The 136 yards rank as the 14th most in a single game in school history. He had 87 yards on 18 carries in his first six career games.
Malcolm Brown
- True freshman Malcolm Brown rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries.
- He recorded his third 100-yard rushing game of the season which ties him for third most 100-yard games by a freshman in school history. The last player to rush for 100 yards in the first half was Colt McCoy against Texas A&M on Nov. 26, 2009 when he had 119 rushing yards in the first half.
- Brown has back-to-back 100-yard rushing games to become the sixth freshman at Texas to rush for 100 or more yards in two straight games. The last player to accomplish the feat was Cedric Benson in 2001 who had five straight games with 100 or more yards.
- He has scored two rushing touchdowns in each of the last two games and now has five rushing touchdowns on the season.
- Brown carried the ball seven times for 33 yards and recorded a six-yard touchdown on the opening drive.
- On the freshman single season list Brown now ranks eighth for rushing yards with 638.
Demarco Cobbs
- Sophomore linebacker Demarco Cobbs made his season debut and had a one tackle for a five-yard loss.
Quandre Diggs
- True freshman Quandre Diggs recorded his second interception of the season. His first interception came against BYU. The two interceptions are tied for a team high with Adrian Phillips.
Marquise Goodwin
- Goodwin had a career-high 52 rushing yards on five carries. Entering the game he had just 81 career rushing yards on 15 attempts.
- He also added four catches for 36 yards. He had six catches in his previous five games this season.
Jackson Jeffcoat
- Jeffcoat posted two tackles for loss in the game to give him six this season. It also matches his career high as he also had two tackles for loss against Oklahoma earlier this season and UCLA last year.
Alex Okafor
- Okafor tallied his team-high third sack of the season and forced a fumble on the same play.
- Okafor had two forced fumbles in the game, the first two of the season for him. He now has four career forced fumbles.
Keenan Robinson
- Robinson had his second caused fumble of the season and third of his career.
Jaxon Shipley
- Shipley notched his fourth game this season with at least five catches as he finished with five receptions for 47 yards.
- Among all-time freshmen at Texas, Shipley moved up to fourth in receptions (33) and is fifth with 438 receiving yards.
Justin Tucker
- Tucker made a career-long 52-yard field goal to end the first half. His previous long was 51 yards against Rice last season. He is 2-of-3 in his career on kicks of 50 yards or longer.
- He was 2-of-2 in the game on field goals and is now 10-of-11 (.909) on field goal attempts this season and 33-of-38 (.868) for his career.
Chris Whaley
- The sophomore defensive end registered his first career sack in the game.
