TEAM NOTES
- In the State Farm Lone Star Showdown, an annual all sports competition between Texas and Texas A&M, the Longhorns now hold a 5-1 lead over the Aggies. Texas A&M took a 1-1/2 lead with a victory in soccer but Texas has won five straight matchups in men's and women's cross country, women's swimming & diving, volleyball and now football to take the lead.
- Texas and Texas A&M met for the 118th time Saturday, the third-most played rivalry in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision. Texas now leads the all-time series 76-37-5 and is 10-4 against the Aggies during the Mack Brown era. The series is also in favor of the Longhorns when played in College Station, 25-22-1.
- When playing on Thanksgiving Day, Texas has controlled the series, 43-19-2.
- UT has won 35 of its last 41 true Big 12 road games and are 39-8 in league road contests under Mack Brown. Coach Brown is 86-26 all-time in Big 12 games.
- Senior kicker Justin Tucker kicked a game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired to give the Longhorns a 27-25 victory. The last time Texas won on a field goal as time expired was the 2009 Big 12 Championship game against Nebraska when Hunter Lawrence made a 46-yard field goal.
- The game-winning drive covered 48 yards on seven plays with key plays being a personal foul penalty on Texas A&M on 1st-and-15 from the Texas 24-yard line and a 25-yard quarterback scramble by sophomore Case McCoy on 1st-and-10 from the Aggie 48-yard line.
- The Longhorns improved to 21-4 (.840) under Mack Brown in games decided by three points or less. Texas is 2-0 this season in narrow games as they also defeated BYU, 17-16, on Sept. 10.
- The 237 yards of total offense were the fewest since the Big 12 Championship game against Nebraska in 2009 when they managed just 202 yards in a 13-12 victory.
- UT has now held 10 of its 11 opponents under their rushing average, nine of the 11 under the passing average and all 11 under the average for total yards this season. Texas A&M was held over 100 yards below its season rushing average of 218.6 yards per game as they tallied just 104 yards on 33 attempts. The Aggies finished with 328 total yards after entering the game at 512.4 yards per game.
- Texas matched a season high with four caused turnovers, giving them six games this season with two or more takeaways. The three caused turnovers marked the third time the Longhorns have forced three or more turnovers including UCLA (4) and Iowa State (3). The three interceptions give them 10 on the year while the fumble recovery was the 10th.
- The three interceptions also matched a season high as the Longhorns tallied three picks at UCLA earlier this year as well.
- The fumbled punt by Texas A&M gave the Longhorns four takeaways on special teams this year to go with two blocked kicks and three touchdowns. UT also recovered fumbled punts against Rice, Iowa State and Oklahoma State.
- Byndom's 58-yard interception return for a touchdown was the first in 12 games for the Longhorns. The last interception return for a score was a 57-yard return by Emmanuel Acho against Florida Atlantic on Nov. 20, 2010. It was the first defensive score of the season for UT and fourth non-offensive touchdown. Since 1999 Texas has 80 non-offensive touchdowns which ranks second most nationally.
- The Longhorns allowed a touchdown on the opening possession for the first time this season. The defense had only allowed three field goals while forcing two turnovers and five punts on the opening possession in the first 10 games of the year.

- He also had three pass breakups to extend his team lead to 14 this year.
Quandre Diggs

The three interceptions are tied for second most by a freshman in school history with Dakarai Pearson (2000) and Kyle Richardson (1994). Pearson was a redshirt freshman. The school record is four by true freshman Chris Carter in 1993.
- His three pass breakups in the game give him 13 on the season to rank second on the team behind Byndom.
- He had an 81-yard punt return in the third quarter which ranks as the fifth longest return in school history and the longest that was not a touchdown.

- Gideon started in his 50th consecutive game, becoming just the third player in Texas history with 50 or more consecutive starts. The only other two players with 50 or more consecutive starts are Colt McCoy (53) and Justin Blalock (51).
Marquise Goodwin
- Goodwin caught a career-high eight passes to lead the team. His previous high was seven catches against Iowa State last season.

Desmond Jackson
- Jackson registered his first career sack in the game.
Cody Johnson
- Johnson plunged in from one yard out for his fifth touchdown of the year and 35th of his career. He moves into a tie for fifth on the Texas career rushing touchdowns list, matching the total by Jamaal Charles (2005-07) and Steve Worster (1968-70).
Case McCoy
- McCoy attempted 27 passes to extend his streak to 107 consecutive passes without an interception. He set a school record for the most consecutive passes to start a career without an interception, breaking the previous record of 106 by Chance Mock (2001-03). The 107 consecutive passes without a pick now rank third most overall in school history.
- McCoy had a 25-yard scramble with under a minute to play to take Texas to the Texas A&M 23-yard line. It was the longest run of his career. His previous long was seven yards against Kansas this season.

- Shipley also threw a 41-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, his second career touchdown pass. He also had a five-yard touchdown pass to D.J. Grant against UCLA earlier this season and is now 3-for-3 passing in his career for 69 yards and two touchdowns. His passing rating is 513.20 on the year.
