Stephens leads Women's Golf at UCF Challenge to a tie for fifth-place in spring debut

SORRENTO, Fla. -- Texas sophomore Haley Stephens carded a season-low 54-hole total of 1-under-par 215 at the UCF Challenge to finish tied for fifth place. As a team, the Longhorns (290-294-298) also finished tied for fifth place in their spring debut at 18-over 298.
Stephens (69-72-74) was UT's wire-to-wire leader after beginning the event with a career-best 69 on Sunday at the RedTail Golf Club. Her three-round scorecard included 11 birdies, eight bogeys and a lone double bogey.
Sophomores Katelyn Sepmoree (72-74-73) and Madison Pressel (72-73-74) also recorded top-20 finishes with totals of 3-over 219 to tie for 16th place. Sepmoree led UT on Tuesday with a final-round 73.
Junior Nicole Vandermade (77-75-77) tied for 50th place at 13-over 229 while freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham (81-77-77) finished at 19-over 235 and tied for 66th place.
Junior Megan Rosenfeld (75-81-81=237, +21) tied for 72nd while competing as an individual for the Longhorns.
Coastal Carolina (285-289-293) won team honors with a 3-over 867. Tulane (284-295-289=868, +4) and Minnesota (288-295-286=869, +5) finished second and third, respectively.
Minnesota's Teresa Puga (70-72-66=208, -8) and Kentucky's Ashleigh Albrecht (66-70-72) were declared co-medalists after a two-hole playoff.
Texas continues spring action later this month at the Bruin Wave Invitational (Feb. 28-March 2).
