TEAM NOTES
- UT improved to 3-0 on the season. This marks the fifth straight year and ninth time in the 14 years under Mack Brown that the Longhorns have opened the season with at least three consecutive wins.
- Texas improved to 44-6 in games played in August/September under Mack Brown, including winning 37 of its last 41.
- Texas evened the all-time series against UCLA at three wins apiece. UT snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bruins and defeated UCLA for the first time since the 1971 season (28-10 at UCLA).
- Today's contest marked the fourth time in the last eight years that Texas has played in the Rose Bowl. UT improved to 3-1 in those games with the previous wins coming against Michigan in the 2005 Rose Bowl and USC in the 2006 BCS National Championship Game. The Horns' lone defeat came against Alabama in the 2009 BCS National Championship Game.
- Texas owned a 284-141 edge in rushing yardage.
- Texas converted 9-of-15 third-down conversions for the game. UT converted 7-of-9 third-down conversions in the first half.
- UT recorded all three of its interceptions in the first quarter.
- UT had a total of 23 players take offensive snaps (does not include extra point attempts) in the first quarter.
- Emmanuel Acho's sack of UCLA QB Richard Brehaut early in the fourth quarter marked the first sack allowed by the Bruins all season.
- Texas outscored UCLA 21-10 in the second half. The Longhorns have outscored their opponents by a 56-16 margin in the second half this season.
- Texas has NOT given up a single point in the fourth quarter in its last seven games.
- Texas held UCLA to 1-of-7 on 3rd down conversions in the second half. For the season, the Longhorns have held opponents to 2-of-18 on third down conversions in the second half.
- Texas owned a 234-155 advantage in total offense in the second half against UCLA. The Longhorns have outgained their opponents 743-328 in the second half this season.

- UT is now 96-13 when scoring first.
- UT is now 128-16 when scoring more than 20 points.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Emmanuel Acho
- Acho's sack in the fourth quarter marked his first of the season and sixth of his career.
David Ash
- Ash set career highs in pass completions (three) and yards (31) and tied his career high in attempts (three). All of his passing totals came in the first half. Ash entered the game 3-for-4 with 37 yards passing on his career.
Joe Bergeron
- Bergeron's 27-yard run late in the fourth quarter marked a career long.
- Bergeron set a career high in rushing yards (36). He entered the game with six career carries for 26 yards.
Malcolm Brown
- Brown made his first collegiate start.
- Brown set career highs in rushing attempts (22), yards (110) and TDs (one).
- Brown became the first true freshman RB at Texas to rush for at least 100 yards since Jamaal Charles in 2005 (Charles accomplished the milestone three times that season). Brown topped the 100-yard mark on his 19th carry of the afternoon (early in the fourth quarter).
- Brown's 16-yard TD run with 11:36 left in the second quarter marked the first of his career.
Carrington Byndom
- Byndom's interception with 12:35 left in the first quarter was the first of his career.
Mike Davis
- Davis tied his season high in receptions (three) for 77 yards. With his 45-yard reception today, three of his six receptions this year have gone for at least 40 yards.
Blake Gideon
- Gideon's fumble recovery with 12:29 left in the fourth quarter marked the first of the season and second of his career.
Marquise Goodwin
- Goodwin's 20-yard run in the second quarter marked his career long. His previous long rush was 19 yards in the 2010 season opener at Rice.
D.J. Grant
- Grant recorded a career-best three TD receptions on the afternoon. This tied the UT single-game mark for most TD receptions by a tight end (3 by Pat Fitzgerald at Notre Dame; 3 by Pete Lammons vs. Baylor in 1965).
- Grant also set career highs in receptions (six) and yards (77). He entered the game with one career reception for five yards. Grant had missed the previous two seasons (2009-10) with a serious right knee injury. Grant had five catches for 72 yards and two TDs in the first half.
- Grant's 45-yard TD reception with 11:20 left in the first quarter marked his first career TD catch. It was just his second career reception (caught first pass of career last week vs. BYU).
- Grant added a 2-yard TD catch with 0:21 left in the second quarter for his second TD reception of the game.
- Grant added a 5-yard TD catch with 9:38 left in the third quarter for his third TD reception of the game.
Cody Johnson
- Johnson's 7-yard TD run with 2:57 left in the fourth quarter marked his fourth of the season.
- Johnson recorded his 34th career rushing TD. He moved into sole possession of seventh place on UT's list for career rushing TDs (Jim Bertelsen had 33 rushing TDs from 1969-71).
- Johnson ended the game with 1,308 career rushing yards and moved into 30th place on UT's career rushing yardage list (he moved past Donnie Little's total of 1,306 yards from 1978-81).
Case McCoy
- McCoy made his first collegiate start.
- McCoy set career highs in pass completions (12), pass attempts (15), passing yards (168) and passing TDs (two). He entered the game 7-for-10 with 57 yards in career passing.
- McCoy's 45-yard TD pass to D.J. Grant with 11:20 left in the first quarter marked his first career TD throw.
- McCoy added a 2-yard TD pass to Grant with 0:21 left in the second quarter.
Adrian Phillips
- Phillips' interception with 6:42 left in the first quarter was the second of his career. It marked the second straight week Phillips has picked off a pass (had an INT in the second quarter vs. BYU).
- Phillips' forced fumble with 12:29 left in the fourth quarter marked the first of his career.
Jaxon Shipley
- Shipley's 5-yard TD throw to D.J. Grant with 9:38 left in the third quarter marked his first career passing TD and his second career pass completion. He had a 23-yard completion in the fourth quarter in last week's win against BYU.
- Shipley set a career high with five receptions, topping the three he had vs. BYU last week.
- Shipley's 15-yard rush in the third quarter marked a career long run. His previous long rush was 12 yards vs. Rice in the season opener.
Justin Tucker
- Tucker's 51-yard punt in the second quarter was a season long. It marked his 19th career punt of at least 50 yards.
Kenny Vaccaro
- Vaccaro's interception as time expired in the first quarter was his first of the season and second of his career (had an INT against Oklahoma State in 2010).
Foswhitt Whittaker
- Whittaker set a career high with two rushing TDs. Both scores came when he lined up in the "Wild" formation and took the snap. Whittaker now has scored three rushing TDs this season out of the "Wild" formation.
- Whittaker set a season high in rushing yards (63) on just eight carries (7.9 ypc).
- Whittaker's 36-yard TD run with 1:40 left in the third quarter marked his second rushing TD of the game, the third of the season and ninth of his career.
- Whittaker's 8-yard TD run with 1:56 left in the first quarter marked his second rushing TD of the year and eighth of his career.
