TEAM NOTES
- The Series: The Longhorns lead the all-time series 23-4 and have won their last seven meetings in Stillwater. Texas has won 13 of its last 15 games with OSU.
- Quick Out of the Gate: The Horns have started 4-0 for the eighth time under head coach Mack Brown. The Horns are 13-2 in Big 12 Conference openers under Brown and have won 42 of their last 46 games in the months of August and September.
- On the Road Again: Texas has won 36 of its last 43 (.837) true Big 12 road games (excluding neutral-site games), including a league-record 13 consecutive conference road wins from 2002-06.
- Top-25 Victory: Texas is now 28-15 (.651) in its last 43 games vs. top 25 opponents. Seven of those losses have come to top 10 ranked teams. That's a continuation of the success the Longhorns have had against ranked foes during the Mack Brown era. In Brown's 15 years in Austin, UT is 35-26 (.574) vs. top 25 opponents.
- Century Mark: D.J. Monroe scored on a 100-yard kickoff return in the first quarter. It was just the fourth 100-yard kickoff return for a TD in school history. Foswhitt 'Fozzy' Whittaker did it twice (vs. Oklahoma State, 2011; vs. Oklahoma, 2011) and Johnny 'Lam' Jones had the first one (vs. SMU in 1978).
- Setting the Career Mark: D.J. Monroe's 100-yard kickoff return for a TD in the opening quarter was the third of his career, which sets the UT record. He was tied with Foswhitt 'Fozzy' Whittaker who had both of his last season (vs. Oklahoma State; vs. Oklahoma).
- Protecting the Quarterback: The Horns surrendered their first sack since the New Mexico game when David Ash went down on what would have been his 12th pass attempt of tonight's game. Texas went 51 pass attempts between sacks and have yielded just four on the season in 120 pass attempts. OSU went on to post two sacks in the game.
- Sack Attack: The Longhorns posted two sacks in the game and have seven over the last two games. Alex Okafor and Jackson Jeffcoat each had one. OSU had not yielded a sack all season entering the contest.
- Third-down efficiency: The Horns came into the game third in the FBS in third-down conversions (26 of 43/60.5 percent) and were 9 of 17 (52.9%) in third-down efficiency this evening.
- Fourth Downs: The Horns are 7-for-8 on fourth-down attempts this season after converting all three this evening. The Horns were a perfect 3-for-3 over the first two games with each of the attempts resulting in a touchdown. Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown each scored on fourth-and-goal from the 1 in the season opener vs. Wyoming, and David Ash scored on a 49-yard run on fourth-and-1 vs. New Mexico. The Horns went 1-for-2 at Ole Miss, but both attempts came in the final drive when they were attempting to run out the clock, with the one non-conversion coming on a conceded kneel down. Texas converted a key fourth-and-6 play on its game-winning drive with Ash hitting D.J. Grant on a 29-yard completion.
- Points off Turnovers: Texas cashed in on its lone forced turnover, scoring a touchdown off Kenny Vaccaro's first-quarter interception. The Longhorns have outscored the opposition 49-3 this season off turnovers. The Cowboys scored on a field goal after David Ash's first interception of the season. The Horns have forced eight turnovers and committed just two.
- Bend but Don't Break: Oklahoma State was 5-for-5 scoring in the red zone, but Texas defense held the Cowboys to field goals on three of them, including the second-to-last drive of the game when they had a first down at the UT 13.

- His consecutive attempts without an interception streak came to an end with his 21st throw of the game. He went 116 attempts without a pick, the fourth-longest streak in school history. His last interception was against Kansas State on Nov. 19, 2011.

- Became just the fourth quarterback in school history with consecutive 300-yard passing games (had a career-best 326 vs. Ole Miss, 9/15). Colt McCoy did it four times (twice in 2008 - Missouri, Oklahoma State/Texas A&M, Ohio State; twice in 2009 - Louisiana-Monroe, Wyoming/Kansas, Texas A&M), James Brown twice (1995 - Pittsburgh, Notre Dame; 1996 - Texas A&M, Nebraska) and Major Applewhite once (1999 - North Carolina State, Stanford). McCoy actually had four straight games throwing for more than 300 yards, though it spanned two seasons (the final two games of 2008 and first two games of 2009).
- His 44-yard TD pass to Jaxon Shipley was his sixth pass play this season of 40 or more yards. He also has a rush of 49 yards.
Malcolm Brown, RB
- Started at tailback for the first time this season. Carried the ball three times for 7 yards before leaving with a left ankle injury in the first half. He needs 13 yards to become the 47th player in school history with 1,000 career rushing yards.

Jaxon Shipley, WR
- Posted a career-high three TD receptions. He had four in his career entering the game. Wane McGarity had a school-record four vs. Texas Tech in 1998.
