No. 7 Men's Swimming and Diving cruises to 133-88 victory at TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - No. 7 Texas (3-2) won 11 of 12 events and cruised to a 133-88 victory over Big 12 Conference foe TCU Friday evening at TCU's University Natatorium.
Texas kicked off the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as seniors Austin Surhoff and Dax Hill, sophomore Tripp Cooper and junior Charlie Moore took the victory in 1 minute, 31.77 seconds. Sophomore Jake Ritter led a one-two Texas finish in the 200 freestyle in 1:41.30. Freshman Sam Lewis took second in 1:41.89.
Hill led the Longhorns in the 50 freestyle with a winning mark of 20.83 seconds. Surhoff followed with a victory in the 200 individual medley in 1:50.11. Surhoff is a former NCAA champion in the event.
Freshman Cory Bowersox led a one-two-three-four Texas finish in the one-meter diving event with 359.63 points. Junior William McCraney took second with 355.80 points. Sophomore Tripp Cooper added a win in the 100 butterfly in 50.26. Lewis held off his teammate Ritter in the 500 freestyle and came away with the win in 4:33.38.
Sophomore Will Chandler led another one-two-three-four Texas diving finish, as he claimed the three-meter event with 432.53 points. He out-distanced UT's Bowersox, the second-place finisher, by over 40 points.
Texas closed the meet with wins in the final two events, but with the meet outcome in hand, the Longhorns declined the points and completed the events as exhibitions. Hill clocked 57.44 to win the 100 breaststroke, and UT closed out the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:23.45.
Texas resumes its dual-meet schedule when it hosts Arizona and SMU on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
