Dubreuil leads No. 16 Women's Golf through 36 holes at Farms Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- Senior Desiree Dubreuil carded a team-best 73 at the Farms Invitational to pace the No. 16 Texas Women's Golf team on Monday afternoon. Through 36 holes, Dubreuil is tied for fifth place at 4-over-par 148. As a team, the Longhorns are also in fifth place overall with a 33-over 609 (303-306) scorecard.
Beginning on the first hole, Dubreuil fought to overcome three bogeys (Nos. 3, 8, 9) with as many birdies (Nos. 2, 4, 6) over the front nine to make the turn at even par. She carded eight pars and just one more bogey on the 16th hole to enter the clubhouse at 1-over 73.
Dubreuil climbed eight spots on the individual leaderboard and is five strokes behind 36-hole leader Sophia Popov from Southern California (74-69=143).
Sophomore Bertine Strauss (76-77) and senior Madison Pressel (75-78) are tied for 25th place at 9-over 153. Senior Katelyn Sepmoree (77-78=155) is two strokes back and tied for 33rd place, while freshman Tezira Abe (78-84=162) is tied for 53rd.
Freshman Natalie Karcher (77-78) is tied for 33rd alongside Sepmoree while competing as an individual.
Average scores dropped nearly half a stroke from yesterday's round, as second-round score averages were 78.94 compared to 79.43 on Sunday.
Top-ranked Southern California (298-289=587) continued to command the 15-team leaderboard, and UNLV (302-298=600) is in second. Arizona (306-298) and Pepperdine (303-301) are tied for third place at 28-over 604.
Texas begins Tuesday's second round at 10:15 a.m. Central off the 10th tee alongside Pepperdine and Northwestern. Tee times are set in nine-minute increments, with Dubreuil teeing off last for the Longhorns at 10:51.
