• Freshman outside hitter Chiaka Ogbogu was tabbed the Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week for matches played Sept. 23-29 ... Ogbogu recorded a .323 hitting percentage with an average of 2.50 kills last week as Texas swept conference opponents TCU and Oklahoma to start league play at 2-0 ... the freshman also recorded six blocks and averaged 3.08 points for the Longhorns ... • In the most recent NCAA rankings, the Longhorns are No. 22 nationally with 2.73 blocks per set ... junior Khat Bell and sophomore Molly McCage lead Texas with 45 blocks apiece, but McCage 1.22 blocks per set ranks 69th nationally.
• Texas was ranked No. 1 in the preseason AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll (Aug. 12) for the first time in program history ... through Week No. 5 of the 2013 season, the Longhorns have appeared in the Top 10 of the AVCA poll for 106 of the last 110 weeks ... Texas has been ranked in the AVCA Top 25 for 145 consecutive week, dating back to 2004.
