Free Kicks:
- Looking at current records (as of 10/1), Texas has played 12 teams that have combined to post a 75-37-15 overall record (a .650 winning percentage) thus far in 2014. As of Sept. 30, the NCAA rated UT's slate as the seventh-toughest schedule by percentage in Division I. Eight of the 12 teams possess winning records, while six of the squads (UCLA, Arizona State, Arkansas, UCF, Texas Tech & West Virginia) have lost two or fewer matches. That tough schedule is reflected in the Longhorns' RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) as UT sits at No. 29 in the most recent NCAA RPI release of the campaign (9/29), up 14 spots from last week and good for fifth among Big 12 teams.(Top Schedules by Opponent Win Percentage in 2014 (per NCAA.com): 1. North Carolina, 2. Maryland, 3. Notre Dame, 4. Tennessee, 5. Florida, 6. Texas A&M, 7. TEXAS, 8. Stanford, 9. La Salle, 10. South Carolina)
- Texas ventures to Ames, Iowa, to face Iowa State with a 3-5-1 road record in Big 12 Conference play under third-year head coach Angela Kelly. UT was 1-2-1 in 2013 and 2-3-0 in 2012 in such matches.
- Texas owns just a 7-11-1 mark in road matches under Kelly but has seen a recent run of success markedly improve that total. UT is 5-2-1 in its last eight true road matches, including a 3-1 record in 2014 with wins at Hawai'i (2-1), at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and at Texas State (2-0), but a 2-0 loss at USF.
- Under the guidance of head coach Angela Kelly, Texas boasts a lot of success when the defense keeps the crooked numbers off the opponent's side of the scoreboard. Since the beginning of the 2012 campaign, the Longhorns have limited the opposition to a single goal or less in 38 of 52 possible matches. In those instances, Texas owns an impressive 25-9-4 overall record and has gone 18-2-3 since beginning the 2013 season.
- The Longhorn program holds an 84-38-15 all-time record against members of the Big 12 Conference and is 18-2-1 in all-time meetings against Friday's opponent, Iowa State.
