Frenchman Jeremy Stravius, who won silver in the 800m freestyle relay and gold in the 400m freestyle relay at the 2012 London Olympics, took the win in 1:47.56. Phelps, the gold medalist in the 200m freestyle at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, placed fourth at 1:48.87.
