No. 15 Men's Tennis shuts out Southern Mississippi, wins H-E-B Tournament title

Longhorns finish off the Golden Eagles in the finals to win the H-E-B Tournament of Champions.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – No. 15 Texas (10-5) won two of three doubles matches to seal the doubles point and tallied three singles wins en route to a 4-0 win over Southern Mississippi Saturday in the finals of the H-E-B Tournament of Champions.
"We had a good showing today, and I thought the guys really played hard," said 16th-year UT head coach Michael Center. "A lot of guys contributed this weekend. It was a great test for us to come down here and be the top seed and get the job done."
Texas won matches at the first and third doubles positions to nail down the doubles point. Sophomore Adrian Ortiz joined senior Michael Riechmann to knock off Daniel Merker and Tarun Surat at first doubles, 6-3. Freshman Harrison Scott joined sophomore John Mee to notch a 6-3 win over Jorman Reyes and Rakshit Rishi at third doubles.
Junior George Goldhoff, the reigning Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Wen-Po Tseng at first singles, and Scott added a 6-1, 6-3 win over Surat at second singles.
Riechmann posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Rishi at fifth singles, as Texas finished off its 4-0 win.
"We played well in each match," Center added. "We'll get ready to make a little push, get ready for this last part of the season with a few more tough non-conference matches and then some Big 12 matches coming up. Overall, I'm really pleased."
Texas resumes dual-match play next weekend (March 13) when it visits San Diego.
