Base Knocks:
- Last year's doubleheader with UTSA on March 24 proved particularly memorable as the Longhorns posted consecutive walk-off victories over the Roadrunners. Center fielder Lindsey Stephens laced a walk-off double to break a tie and win the opener, 2-1, while pinch hitter Mickenzi Krpec played the heroine in the nightcap with a walk-off two-RBI single (3-2). The occurrence marked the seventh time in program history (and first time since 2009) that Texas registered back-to-back walk-off wins.
- With mid-week victories over both UTSA and North Texas, the Longhorns could equal the fifth-best 19-game opening to a season in school history at 16-3 (1997, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011). The 2003, 2006 & 2012 teams opened at 18-1, while the 2013 team was 17-2.
- Who scores first has played a major role to this point in whether Texas or its opposition wins games in 2016. Thus far through 17 contests, the Longhorns are a perfect 9-0 when putting a run on the scoreboard first and just 5-3 when the opposition crosses the plate initially.
- The Longhorns have still yet to taste defeat in a game during which they out-hit their opponent. Through the opening 17 contests, Texas is a perfect 13-0 when out-hitting its opponent and just 1-3 when trailing in the hits column. The only times UT has been out-hit this season were in a 3-2 win over Abilene Christian (February 26), in a pair of losses to Tulsa (February 26-27) and during a defeat at Texas State (March 2).
- The Longhorns have always had a tremendous amount of success against programs from the "Lone Star State," as UT holds a 302-73-1 (.805) overall record versus a combined 20 Texas teams. The Burnt Orange & White leads the all-time series over 19 of those 20 programs with the lone blemish being a 20-20 series tie against longtime rival Texas A&M. The Horns are 3-1 in such games this season, beating Houston (W, 4-1) on Feb. 21 to get this year's "Lone Star State" match-ups underway, taking two contests from Abilene Christian (W, 15-1 in 5 inn., 3-2) during the Texas Invitational and dropping a 9-5 decision at Texas State (March 2). UT still has contests scheduled against Texas State, UTSA, North Texas, UTA, Baylor, UTEP, Texas Tech and Texas Southern to go in 2016.
