Junior Beau Hossler becomes the first golfer in Texas history to earn Player of the Year honors twice.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Men's Golf landed three golfers on the All-Big 12 Team, while junior Beau Hossler was named Player of the Year for the second-straight year and Head Coach John Fields was named Coach of the Year for the fourth-straight year.
For Fields, it marks the 11th conference Coach of the Year award he has won in his career. It is his seventh Big 12 Coach of the Year award and fourth-straight. His seven honors leads all Big 12 coaches.
Fields has led Texas to six wins in 2015-16, including six of the last eight, and has coached a squad where all five golfers have finished in the top-10 at least once and two have earned medalist honors at least twice.
In their last outing, the Longhorns won their fourth-straight Big 12 Championship, finishing the final day at 15-under par for the lowest round in Big 12 history and winning by 26 strokes for the largest victory in Big 12 history.
Hossler becomes the first golfer in Texas Men's Golf history and only the third golfer in Big 12 history to earn Player of the Year honors in consecutive years.
He was named Player of the Year in 2015, Newcomer of the Year in 2014 and has been named to the All-Big 12 Team all three years.
Hossler has won five tournaments with Texas in 2015-16, earned one runner-up finish and two more top-eight finishes. He employs the country's No. 1 collegiate golf ranking (GolfWeek) and leads the Longhorns with a 69.73 stroke average.
On the 10-member All-Big 12 Team, junior Gavin Hall and sophomore Doug Ghim join Hossler for their second All-Big 12 honor.
Hall has earned two medalist honors this season and four additional top-10 finishes. He is second on the team with a 71.57 stroke average and has fired 22 of his 33 rounds at or under par.
Ghim has six top-10 finishes on the season, including a tie for fourth at the Big 12 Championship. He sits right behind Hall with a 71.61 stroke average with 20 of his 33 rounds at or under par.
The Horns will play in the NCAA Franklin Regional beginning Monday, May 16 in Franklin, Tenn.
