- The Longhorns will be facing off against Sam Houston State on Friday for just the second time in program history. Texas downed the Bearkats in the only previous meeting back on Oct. 13, 2006, in Austin, 7-0.
- Texas is coming off an unbeaten weekend that saw the Longhorns post identical 3-1 score lines in victories over Texas Invitational foes College of Charleston and Detroit. Sophomore forward Alexa Adams led the offensive charge by scoring a goal in each contest, while senior forward Jasmine Hart tallied three points in the win over the Cougars, including the match-winning score during the 26th minute. Junior Monique Iannella, freshmen Emma Jett and Tecora Turner, sophomore Nakia Graham and senior Julia Dyche also picked up their first assists and points of the season during the event.
- A win over Sam Houston State would push the Longhorns to a three-match winning streak, tying for the second-longest winning skein over the last five seasons. Since the start of 2012, UT has won three matches in a row on five different occasions and won four in a row from Sept. 20-29, 2013.
- Several Longhorns seem to ALWAYS be on the pitch. Senior defender Isabelle Kerr and freshman defender Atu Mshana have played all 270 possible minutes this season, while sophomore midfielder Katie Glenn (261), senior midfielder Julia Dyche (261) and freshman defender Emma Jett (260) have been on the field for at least 260 minutes.
- Texas sophomore forward Alexa Adams has picked up this season where she left off from an All-Big 12-level rookie campaign in 2015. The Lancaster, Calif., native has now scored during each of the Longhorns' last two matches against College of Charleston and Detroit, giving her at least one point in eight of the Longhorns' last 10 matches dating back to Oct. 9, 2015, against Iowa State. Over that 10-match stretch, Adams has seven goals and four assists for 18 total points on an efficient 24 shots. In fact, on her LAST 10 SHOTS ON GOAL, ADAMS HAS SCORED SEVEN TIMES (70% scoring efficiency!).
- Texas' defense is particularly stingy, having not allowed more than two goals in a single match since allowing three during a 3-1 loss at TCU back on Oct. 17, 2014, a stretch of 29 consecutive contests. In fact, an opponent has only scored more than two goals in a contest four times since head coach Angela Kelly took over the program (three times in her first season on the Forty Acres in 2012) and ONLY ONCE OVER THE LONGHORNS' LAST 72 MATCHES!
- A pair of Longhorns seem to always be penciled in the line-up as senior midfielder Julia Dyche has earned at least some playing time in Texas' last 51 matches, while senior defender Isabelle Kerr has appeared in 45 of UT's last 46 contests dating back to each player's freshman campaign in 2013.
- Senior forward Jasmine Hart is off to a great start to the 2016 season as well, managing her fourth career contest with three or more points (goal, assist) in the 3-1 win over College of Charleston. The occurrence marked the first time the Haltom City, Texas, product has registered at least three points in a single match since scoring a goal and dishing an assist in a rout of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi back on Sept. 5, 2014. She had played in 34 matches since that rout of the Islanders.
- The injury bug is really making its presence felt during the early part of the 2016 campaign for Texas. Potential starters in sophomore midfielder Kayra Dollas and freshman forward Cyera Hintzen currently remain day-to-day with lower leg injuries suffered in preseason training camp. And now, redshirt sophomore forward Mikayla Flores has unfortunately joined her teammates on the sidelines by suffering an ACL tear in her left knee during the Seattle match that will keep her out of action for the rest of the 2016 season.
- Over the four-plus season tenure of head coach Angela Kelly, if Texas scores a goal, there's a pretty good chance UT will win the match. Since starting 2012, the Longhorns are 41-11-6 in contests where they tickle the twine at least once and are 2-0 in such situations so far this season.
- If the Longhorns needed any preseason motivational material, they certainly got it in the form of the Big 12 Preseason Poll. The league's coaches picked UT to finish sixth out of nine teams, garnering 32 total points to trail four-time defending champion West Virginia (eight first-place votes/64 points), Texas Tech (one first-place vote/57), Oklahoma (42), Baylor (35) and Oklahoma State (34 points). Kansas (30 points), TCU (22) and Iowa State (8) rounded out slots seven through nine.
- Dorothy once said there's no place like home. The Texas soccer squad takes that line from "The Wizard of Oz" to heart as in four-plus seasons under coach Angela Kelly, the Longhorns have posted a 25-13-6 (.636) record in the friendly confines of Myers Stadium and are 20-8-5 (.682) over the last 31 home matches. Texas owns an all-time home record of 122-39-19 (.731) entering the 18th year (1999-present) at Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field. In the 20+-year history of Texas Soccer, the Horns have registered an overall record of 144-51-21 (.715) in all home games.
