No. 8 Soccer remains unbeaten with 0-0 (2OT) tie at Oklahoma

Texas joins No. 1 UCLA and UW-Milwaukee as the only remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I
NORMAN, Okla. – On Sunday afternoon at the OU Soccer Complex, No. 8 Texas soccer (11-0-1, 3-0-1 Big 12 Conference) blasted two shots off the woodwork and managed a commanding 19-6 shot advantage, including 7-0 in shots on goal, but just couldn't locate the back of the net in a 0-0 (2OT) tie against Oklahoma.
With the deadlock, the Longhorns join No. 1 UCLA and Wisconsin-Milwaukee as the last three remaining unbeaten teams (with ties) in all of NCAA Division I women's soccer.
Sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Curry wasn't required to make a single save in registering her eighth shutout of the season and moved into a tie for third all-time in Texas single-season history for shutouts alongside former Longhorns Abby Smith (2013) and Alexa Gaul (2010).
Sophomore forward Cyera Hintzen led UT with five total shots, four on frame, while redshirt sophomore forward Mikayla Flores, junior midfielder Kayra Dollas and junior midfielder Katie Glenn each managed three attempts.
Both teams registered early forays into enemy territory, but it was Texas that managed the match's first shot at 3:44. A cross in from the right side dropped right to Dollas, but her headed effort from nine yards out traveled wide left.
Texas had a great chance in the 16th minute as Flores made a strong run up the right side. The La Verne, Calif., native crossed into the middle of the 18 to Hintzen, and she fired a quick 12-yard shot that was saved by Oklahoma keeper McKinley Crone.
A dangerous OU long ball over the top found midfielder Tori Bowman racing into the left side of the 18-yard box. She took a quick dribble and fired a shot at 19:28 that rolled yards outside the right post.
The Sooners came close to taking an early lead in the 23rd minute as a Bowman effort rattled off the crossbar before being cleared away by the UT defense.
After two lengthy tries by Glenn were wide and saved, respectively, a quick Texas counterattack created another solid scoring chance in the 29th minute as Hintzen had found space inside the 18, but just mis-hit a shot with it bouncing straight into Crone's arms.
Off a long free kick in the 36th minute, Texas had the feed in deflected out by the OU defense for a corner. Sophomore defender Emma Jett delivered the set piece into the middle, but a Hintzen header proved wide from 13 yards.
Both teams would manage another scoring chance down the stretch of the first half, but none on frame as Texas and Oklahoma went to the locker room knotted at 0-0.
Out of the halftime break, Oklahoma managed its first corner of the match during the 49th minute, but Texas was able to clear its lines.
The Sooners had another solid opportunity off a free kick from on the right wing during the 51st minute. The eventual feed inside the 18 had quality but proved just a foot too tall as it traveled over both the crowd out front and the end line.
During the 53rd minute, Texas redshirt freshman forward Cydney Billups really started causing OU trouble. The Greenwood Village, Colo., native managed to scoot in behind the Sooner backline to receive a great through ball, but was called offside.
Off a corner in the 60th minute, Oklahoma got a headed try from forward Kaylee Dao, but it traveled well wide left.
With Texas' offense buzzing inside OU territory during the 69th minute, UT freshman midfielder Emily Strouphauer won a ball just outside the right edge of the 18. She delivered a pass into the middle to Adams, but the Lancaster, Calif., product's quick 12-yard shot ricocheted off the left post before being cleared.
Freshman forward Kyra Falcone got into action for the Longhorns during the 76th minute, chipping a shot from 23 yards out on the left wing that ventured over the bar by a couple of feet.
Strouphauer had another great opportunity during the 80th minute, but her one-timed, left-footed effort from the middle of the 18 went just outside of the left post.
Crone continued her solid play between the pipes for the Sooners over the last of regulation, making saves on Glenn at 80:24 and Hintzen at 85:08 to force overtime.
Following a quiet first extra-session, action picked up over the final 10 minutes. Off a Texas corner during the 106th minute, Dollas leapt high over the crowd to unleash a 13-yard header that rattled off the crossbar. The deflection off the woodwork traveled straight out to Flores, but her follow-up header ventured right into Crone's arms.
Final attempts by Oklahoma forward Kyle Escobedo (108') and Dao (109') were each blocked by the Longhorns "D" as the two squads were forced to settle for a scoreless draw.
