AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Sophia Schubert and sophomore Emilee Hoffman finished 1-2 and the No. 19 University of Texas women's golf captured the 44th-annual Betsy Rawls Invitational by 15 strokes on Tuesday at the University of Texas Golf Club.
The Longhorns claimed the Betsy Rawls Invitational for the eighth time in program history and for the first time since 2011. Texas fired a two-over-par three-round total of 866 (286-282-298) to earn a 15-stroke victory over No. 11 Furman and a 16-stroke win against No. 3 Arizona State. The Longhorns defeated a tournament field that included six ranked teams.
Schubert became the eighth Longhorn all-time to win the Betsy Rawls Invitational and the first since Nicole Vandermade in 2011. Schubert recorded a six-under-par 210 (69-70-71), which tied for the seventh-best 54-hole total in program history. Her 71 on Tuesday tied for the best individual score in the round, as competitors had to battle cold and windy conditions on the final day of the event. It marked Schubert's third career collegiate tournament victory and her second at Texas. She tallied 36 pars and 12 birdies over the course of the week. Schubert finished the week with the best average of the field on par-four holes at 3.87.
Hoffman carded a two-under-par 214 (71-67-76) to place second overall. It was her third collegiate top-two finish and her sixth collegiate top-10 placing. Hoffman continued her consistency of placing in among the top-25 in each of the four tournaments in which she has competed this season. She posted 35 pars and 11 birdies over the course of the week.
Freshman Kaitlyn Papp finished tied for 16th overall with a five-over-par 221 (74-73-74), while sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker tied for 18th with a six-over-par 222 (72-72-78). Freshman Agathe Laisne rounded out the lineup with a tie for 28th place with an eight-over-par 224 (74-73-77).
Competing as an individual, sophomore Maren Cipolla tied for her best collegiate round with a seven-over-par 223 (76-69-78), which included her best collegiate score at 69, and was her first collegiate top-25 finish. Junior Maddie Luitwieler totaled an 11-over-par 227 (72-75-80), while sophomore Kelly Xac, competing in her first collegiate tournament, totaled a 247 (82-79-86).
Texas returns to action November 3-5 when it travels to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to participate in the Battle at the Beach, which will mark the final fall tournament for the Longhorns.

TEXAS QUOTES
Texas Head Coach Ryan Murphy
On Texas winning the Betsy Rawls Invitational …
" It is always nice to win at home; that is what you want. You want to make your people proud. We did that this week. We played great and beat a really good field. We beat some really strong teams and that is always nice. I hope the take away here is that it gives my team confidence going forward. You have a little built in advantage with the home golf course so that plays a role, but we are a good team and we can compete."
On senior Sophia Schubert's individual medalist honors at the Betsy Rawls Invitational …
"I've watched the maturity in her game since she arrived. There are certain elements of her game that she has improved — certainly her wedge game and her scoring area has improved dramatically. As a person, obviously now with her U.S. Amateur win, she's speaking a lot more in public and it's been great to watch her do interviews and grow in that area as well, but she's really been fantastic since she arrived. She's represented the University of Texas, herself, her family in a first-class manner since the day she arrived."
On the team win against a field that included six other ranked teams …
"We've got a good team. It's always nice playing on your home golf course, there's a little built-in advantage there. We know every corner of this property, pretty much. But it does speak to our team being really good this year. We have the makings of a special group. It's nice to get this win, but right now, the coach in me is thinking about how we need to improve in a few areas. It was nice at the top with Sophia [Schubert] and Emilee [Hoffman], but there's more to come from our next three players.
On the tournament win being a total team victory …
"It really was and you have to have that. You have to have five players that, on any given day, any five of them can do that. Maren Cipolla and Maddie Luitwieler started the tournament really well. They are capable and I am proud of my whole team. It was certainly a team effort."
Senior Sophia Schubert
On winning the Betsy Rawls Invitational …
"I think this is the best one. To win here at home is just incredible. To be able to share this with my friends and my family and all of our fans has been great."
On the cold temperatures affecting play on Tuesday …
"It was difficult with that and with the wind this morning. It made the course a lot tougher today. The day just got better and my confidence got better. They just started to drop."
On her goals for the season …
"I want to be an All-American again this year. I am also playing in a few LPGA majors coming up. I have some goals for that – to make the cut and place pretty well."
