The No. 7 University of Texas women's golf team travels to Napa, Calif., this weekend to join a highly decorated field at the Silverado Showdown. The Longhorns will face seven of the nation's top-20 teams in a three-day event that begins Sunday at the Silverado Resort and Country Club.
The 54-hole event will begin with tee times from the 1st and 10th tees at 9:45 a.m. CT on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday's shotgun start will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
The 17-team field includes: No. 14 Arizona, No. 13 Arizona State, California, No. 19 Colorado, No. 11 Northwestern, Oregon, Pepperdine, Purdue, San Jose State, No. 5 Southern California, No. 6 Stanford, No. 7 Texas, Tulane, No. 2 UCLA, UNLV, Washington State, Wisconsin.
The Longhorns have a record of 99-25-1 against their opponents this season, including a 31-12-1 tally against teams ranked in the Golfweek Top-25 at the time of competition. Texas has seven top-five team finishes in nine tournaments this season, including a pair of team victories.
Texas is coming off a runner-up finish at the San Diego State University March Mayhem event last week at The Farms Golf Club. The Longhorns were second overall in stroke play and then advanced to the match-play championship with wins against San Diego State and Iowa State. Texas fell to No. 5 Southern California in the match-play final.
Freshman Kaitlyn Papp is on pace for a record-setting rookie campaign and is second on her team with a stroke average of 71.60. She has posted six top-10 finishes in nine tournaments this season - including all four spring tournaments - and has logged a team-leading 14 rounds at par or better.
Senior Sophia Schubert returns to the lineup after competing in the ANA Inspiration, the second LPGA major of her career. Schubert has posted top-10 finishes in each of the four collegiate tournaments in which she has competed this season. She has a squad-best stroke average of 71.25 with 10 rounds this season at par or better.
The Texas lineup at the Silverado Showdown is also comprised of freshman Agathe Laisne, junior Maddie Luitwieler and sophomore Emilee Hoffman. Sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker is competing as an individual.
