Men's Tennis advances eight at ITA Texas Regional Championships

Texas sends six to the singles round of 32 and two doubles pairs to the quarterfinals.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas advanced six Longhorns to the singles round of 32, and two UT double pairs moved on to the quarterfinals Friday at the ITA Texas Regional Championships.
In doubles, UT juniors Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles posted an 8-2 win over TCU's Alex McNeel and Eduardo Roldan and an 8-5 victory over Abilene Christian's Paul Domanski and Hunter Holman.
Juniors Colin Markes and Adrian Ortiz joined their classmates in the quarterfinals after notching an 8-4 win over UT Arlington's Pedro Neuz and Mauricio del Rio and an 8-5 victory over Abilene Christian's Henry Adams and Nikolas Moceanu.
In singles, top-seeded Harrison Scott made short work of Lamar's Roy Stepanov and won by a 6-1, 6-2 count. The Canadian moves on to meet Joao Ceolin of UTSA in the next round. Telles knocked off SMU's Altus Karsten, 6-2, 6-4 to set up meeting Saturday against Texas Tech's Alex Sendegeya.
Banzer defeated Abilene Christian's Nikolas Moceanu, 6-2, 6-3 and will take on Petro Nuez of UT Arlington in the next round. Markes knocked off Elliot Johnstone of UT Rio Grande Valley, 6-1, 6-4 and will meet Incarnate Word's Gabriel Evans in the next round.
Ortiz will take on Abilene Christian's Jonathan Sheehy on Saturday after dealing Lamar's Nicolas Mayr a 6-4, 6-1 defeat. Senior John Mee shut out SMU's Roberto Rosales (6-0, 6-0) and will take on Texas Tech's Artem Kapshuk on Saturday.
