Notes:
• No. 5 Texas is coming off two-straight home sweeps over Baylor (25-19, 28-26, 25-17) and Kansas State (25-17, 25-12, 25-16) to improve to 3-0 in Big 12 Conference play. During the week, the Longhorns hit. 362, only committing 16 errors, and outblocked their opponents, 3.00 to 0.83.
• Through three Big 12 Conference matches, Texas leads in hitting percentage and blocks, ranks second in opponent hitting percentage, and third in assists and kills. Junior Morgan Johnson leads all Big 12 players in hitting percentage (.455) and blocks (1.73/set), while senior Chiaka Ogbogu ranks second in hitting percentage (.447) and senior Ebony Nwanebu ranks third in blocks (1.22/set). Sophomore Micaya White appears on four lists, including points (4th at 4.27/set), kills (5th at 3.73/set), service aces (8th at 0.27/set), and hitting percentage (9th at .330).
• Texas is one of two undefeated teams opening Big 12 Conference play, with victories against West Virginia (3-2), Baylor (3-0), and Kansas State (3-0). TCU was swept by the 3-0 Kansas Jayhawks on Sept 30, who clash with Texas next week in Lawrence.
• With an .828 winning percentage (247-51) in Big 12 Conference play over the last 10 seasons, the Longhorns are 177-71(.714 winning percentage) all-time in Big 12 road matches.
• With average winning streaks of 11 matches opening conference play over the last five seasons, Texas is looking to extend its current opening winning streak after going without dropping a set in the last two matches.
• The Longhorns are one of the Big 12's most potent teams on offense and defense, ranking first in conference play in hitting percentage (.362), assists (14.00/set), kills (15.17/set), and blocks (3.00/set), and second in opponent hitting percentage (.201).
• Texas received a fourth Big 12 weekly honor with freshman Ashley Shook being named Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the week of Mon, Oct 2nd, the first honor of Shook's career.
• Nwanebu was selected as a 2017 Senior CLASS candidate on Tuesday, joining 29 Division I volleyball players from around the country. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition.
